Indie Vacation In the Bush 0

Posted on November 26, 2009 by dorischua

What a nice and relaxing way to spend my vacation in a bush! I arrived in Burbank Queensland two days ago and I was so impressed with the bush setting at my cousin’s house. It’s just great for an indie traveler. I wonder if someone else convert one of the acreage to a bed and breakfast!

I went shopping with my cousin for spa filters as she reckoned that I would love a dip in the spa during my stay with her. I haven’t done much the last two days except for taking a walk in the bush with my son, catching butterflies and exploring the trail. It was a relaxing experience for me.

This weekends, I will be visiting the weekend markets and hope to shop for some indie clothing at the markets. It should be nice. The weather is warming up so a handmade hat will be nice too. Vacations are great to rejuvenate the body and mind if done right. I am enjoying my quietness in the bush while catching up with some lost sleep over those busy days.

Indie Lifestyle and Slow Travel 0

With many people traveling this coming holiday season, there are tips to make your holiday a fun filled and hassle-free one. For people who embrace an indie lifestyle, there are places that are good for slow and eco travel.

Hiking or camping can be a good and inexpensive way to travel. It used to be popular among outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers but these days, indie travelers are following the trend too. Families tend to choose Outer Banks beach rentals and enjoy family fun together by doing more relaxing things. Indie travelers prefer freedom and space, flexibility and something off the beaten path. Getting to know the locals and indulging into the culture is something most independent travelers look for. After all, you want to reminisce and carry a tale about an unique culture to your friends after a holiday. It brings memories in years to come and your travel photos will speak volumes of your culture immersion.

Well, you don’t need to be leading an indie lifestyle to choose slow travel. All it takes it a prepared mind, a passion to learn about a new culture, an open mind and an adventurous free spirit to take you to places and experiences you have never encountered.

Backpacking Trips with Indie and Slow Travel 0

Posted on September 22, 2009 by dorischua

Lately, I have been searching in the web for some great travel deals. Some of my indie friends are talking about searching for some backpacking destinations and they are geared for that indie lifestyle that spells freedom and creativity.

There are many things that people discuss about a backpacking trip. For some, it recalls urban backpacking culture, where men and women would crisscross the urban landscape with their backpacks, living without anything except what rests in their packs. Many backpackers are also known for slow travel experts too. Sometimes, a group of backpackers would go for apartments for rent but in most occasions, a backpackers lodge is preferred.

To others backpacking often refers to an intense, outdoor camping experience that is more than just an indie preference. A backpacking trip can often refers to a single weekend or a few months, depending on what the backpacker desires. Traveling by backpack can take you across the globe if you have the budget. A backpacker can enjoy the landscape and meet people on a personal basis at a slower pace. And that’s how the term slow travel is becoming popular.

There has been a significant increase in indie trips across places like southeast Asia. You may find backpackers in a truly wide variety of areas. Not only will they frequent the cities, but they will also head out into vast stretches of wilderness, displaying a truly formidable type of self-reliance. If you are interested in backpacking trips, don’t worry! There’s no need to start off in this fashion; you will find plenty of different opportunities to hit the trail, many of them no further than your own home grounds.

Indie Travel, Shopping, Clothing and More… 0

I’ve been thinking about a vacation this year end. Slow, indie travel sounds very tempting but it will be hard when I have a preschooler traveling with me.

Last year, I was planning to shop for some indie clothing when I was in Tokyo, Japan but my little one made it too hard for me to do that. Some of these indie stores are located in side and narrow streets which require one to climb a few flights of stairs. It was not feasible doing that with a kid. This is why I do most of the indie shopping online these days cos it’s so convenient! I even shop for designer t-shirts online whenever I need a creative and indie gift for my hubby.

Online shopping is my life saver when I became a mom cos I have practically not much time to browse and shop around in the malls or streets. With so many online stores in the web, you can buy the best eye wrinkle cream to the most unique indie jewelry piece. It makes comparison between products and prices alot easier.

I’m still searching for some indie travel in the web and reading reviews from travelers are helpful in all my travel decisions and planning. As for indie shopping online, get started in our indie store and check out some of the cool designers which promote green and eco clothing.

More Are Choosing Indie Lifestyle 0

I’ve been reading up on organic and natural health magazines lately. It is interesting to know that many of these organic advocates are run by indie business owners with a passion and heart for the environment and pure health. It is inspiring to know that more are choosing to live an indie lifestyle.

These days, people are seeking for better health in the fast paced world that we live in. Better health comes with a price and sacrifice and I am glad many have set the pace for us to follow. It is encouraging to see that many indie business owners have chosen to embrace purity and eco friendliness in their business practices which give rise to many new organic labels in the beauty and natural health industry.

Even when it comes to weight loss, people are choosing exercise and a good diet for overall health. Some have complemented their goals with weight loss supplements. Many have embraced the indie lifestyle and learn to take breaks in between their busy schedules and routine. That explains why indie travel is getting more popular in the recent years. People prefer slow travel as they absorbed and learned a new culture in their indie vacation.

Being Indie Doesn’t Mean Being Alone All the Time 0

Posted on May 16, 2009 by dorischua

Some people have the misconception that being indie means you just focused on going solo and you don’t care about what’s going on around you. No teamwork, no partners, no family support – just indie. This is absolute nonsense.

I just received a call from a friend who is an indie traveler for years but has a loving family. He enjoys traveling and trodding to different places while experiencing various cultures alone but when back home, he’s a loving daddy too. He told me that he would want to bring his family for Orlando vacations someday though it wouldn’t be an indie travel experience then. By that will be purely family time when the time comes.

Being indie can still involve friends and loved ones… it’s just doing things differently.

Indie Travel For the Mind 0

I’ve been away for an indie vacation in Phuket and it’s nice to take a break off every now and then.

While in Phuket, I can notice many indie travelers who just simply decide to take time off from their busy schedules and do a slow travel. They normally stay more than 2 weeks and during that time, they will take time to immerse into the local culture and enjoy the local tastes and lifestyle. There is no rush and no jammed packed traveling schedule – just a rest and relax session.

As I was surfing the web, I also notice that even drug rehab are taking a different approach to provide a recovery experience for patients. The ambience in the center is conducive and provides a positive experience for those who are there to seek help and treatment. The traditional rehab centres where the ambience is quite cold and impersonal but with the move of times, things are a little different now.

Perhaps I should be planning for slow and indie travel holidays this year. I’m kinda tired of rushing through the day and following a holiday itinerary. Most importantly, the mind needs a break and the body, a rest. This can prepare one to move further and move ahead into life’s expecations and challenges.

Experiencing Indie Travel 0

Posted on April 24, 2009 by dorischua

There has been lots of interest on indie travel among my group of friends and I’m exploring more destinations that are popular among indie travelers.

One of the ways to travel the indie style is to avoid tour packages. Just rough it out the free and easy way, that is. You probably end up walking more and doing adventurous stuff but this is the best way to mingle with the locals and experience the real essence of travel. At the end of an active trip like this, you don’t even need fat burner pills or anything like that cos you will be burning lots of calories from the walking and trekking.

Be prepared if you are traveling independently. Equip yourself with all the necessary first aid and safety kits that may be helpful when you are stuck in some part of a remote area.

more topics for my indie blog 0

It seems that researching for a good topic that is indie related is a challenge. Perhaps I may shift away from the stereotyped ‘indie’ keyword to something of independent nature.

Perhaps it can be an indie blog that discusses topics for wine enthusiasts who are keen to learn about the wine of the month or maybe I should just focus on green travel. Indie travelers or independent travelers are becoming more keen in green travel issues these days. There is a growing community of indie travelers moving into slow travel since this is a great way to learn and see more of a travel destination. Indie traveling, green travel and slow travel are great topics which I would look into. For now, I would need to check out the popularity of these topics and themes in the web.

seeing the world as an indie traveler 0

eco friendly trips

Indie travel can be nice, peaceful and enjoyable. It also allows the indie traveler to appreciate the real essence of a slow vacation without any interruption or disturbance. The indie traveler has all the flexibility and freedom of time – do whatever you want and like without worrying about seeking another traveler’s opinion… like all things, there are always pros and cons.

eco hotel

An indie traveler means you must be prepared to handle any mishaps or accidents alone. You cannot count on anyone to support you so I guess online social network may help in one way or another. The indie traveler can join several indie travel networks and connect with other travelers on the other side of the globe. Perhaps the solo or indie travelers won’t going for Disney vacations or theme parks. He will be more adventurous and trekking around with a backpack. Tour the whole of Europe and check in to backpackers inn. That’s where most indie travelers are found and it’s also a good way to begin new friendships.
