Indie Decor To Delight 0

Posted on August 09, 2009 by dorischua

One of my favourite things to do is to shop for interior and house fittings when I’m traveling. I love combing the arty streets where indie designers are housed and quirky finds are rare… it is a fun thing to do.

With online technology, I can do shopping for these indie designer finds a lot easier. Wrapables has lots of cool stuff from fashion accessories, bed and bath to home decor. When we were shopping for our new house, we visited so many light shops just to find the right lighting fixture but with the internet today, shopping for a new home is so much faster and better :)

I did some search and found some nice home lightings for those looking for some nice indie designs. Enjoy:

Introducing Indie Fashion Store 0

Finally, the long awaited task of getting my indie clothing store is finally done! In the last week, I have been busy selecting and adding the right products for my indie fashion store and I’m really glad that it is now live!

After much search in the web, I have picked out a few indie designer and lifestyle merchants with nice designs and cool products. For now, you will find many indie dresses from ModCloth and I’ll be adding the jewelry and gift items in the next few days. I have also included organic clothing, green clothing, hemp clothing and eco friendly products in the store and most of them are designed and produced by indie designers and artists.

Indie artists should be supporters of eco friendly products and we should play our part to protect Mother Earth. I am impressed by many indie jewelry designers who tap on their creative potential and use recycled materials for their jewelry pieces. This is an innovative way to promote eco friendliness and a responsible way to display creativity.

In fact, we try to support independent companies these days even when it comes to making decisions on auto insurance quotes, we prefer to work with family run firms instead of conglomerates. There are many indie companies that need our support in the offline and online world.

So please stop by our Indie Fashion Store where indie lifestyle begins online. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to drop us a comment.

Indie Designers Supporting Eco Living Principles 0

While searching for indie fashion designers, I came across a few eco living online stores that focus on promoting eco natural fashion and products as well as environmentally friendly home accessories.

It’s impressive to note that there are more indie designers who embrace eco living principles in their practices and many of them are also supporting fair trade communities and organic principles. Indie jewelry designers are also exploring on their creativity with recycled materials and the end results can be inspiring and alluring. Novica is a great place to source for indie designer products including clothing, jewelry , homeware, paintings, art pieces and more. A friend of mine was searching for diamond engagement rings and stumbled on some cool creations from indie designers and artists.

The world of indie design is continuing to grow and in no time, more budding designers and artists will continue to join in the fold.

Everyone is riding on the Earth Hour hype this week and what is your take about this? The indie community has long been doing their bit to save the earth but producing environmentally friendly products.

There are many indie designers who work on recycled materials and using them to create pieces of art and unique designs. You can see them everywhere now from an online etsy store to an offline flea market. Indie designers are getting more talented as technology emerges. You can buy netbooks covers and skins designed by indie artists and handmade jewelry by indie designers at Etsy. Though some may cost a little more, you can be rest assured that your design purchases are attached with a touch of uniqueness and individuality.

Support indie.

a rise of indie designers in the new year 0

This seems to be a rough year for many people with lots of retrenchment and financial turmoil for many industries. People are changing their lifestyles to cope with turbulent times as things continue to look bleak in the new year.

Personally, I have been looking at low cost term life insurance rates and other ways to streamline our financial spending in the coming year. It looks like I would have to shop less and consider other creative means to cut cost in my lifestyle. Perhaps it’s a good time to learn how to knit or sew since I’ve always wanted to create my own clothing. I foresee that the indie design market will become popular as more people turn to making things with their hands. This may also mean that more people may discover their inner talents and turn indie designers during these difficult times.

Whenever I feel like I need a bit of girlish inspiration, I love browsing through the web for jewelry and accessories and one of my favourite online indie store is Novica.

You can find all sorts of unique handicrafts and artistic finds in Novica from handmade jewelry to hand crafted home and living products. I find the handmade jewelry very appropriate for weddings and special occasions. In fact, they made great gift ideas too. Besides a wide collection of jewelry, Novica has lots of talented designers and indie artists from all over the world and I find it a great place to shop for gift ideas for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings…etc. As thanksgiving and Christmas draws nearer, this may be a good place to start your festive shopping… you will sure to find great gift ideas for those who appreciate handmade and unique Clothing and Accessories from around the world!

getting ready for winter 0

Posted on November 05, 2008 by dorischua

With the weather cooling down, I’m taking out all my wintry clothings and getting ready for winter. I was planning to knit a new scarf or wool vest but I doubt I’d have the time to do that before the season begins!

Last winter, my cousin bought a pair of UGG Knightsbridge and it’s still fresh in my mind. It is one pair of winter boots I like for cool months and wintry days. I wonder if there is any indie designer out there who can craft a shoe similar to UGG! For what I know, there are lots of indie clothing designers but not shoe ones. Perhaps I should check out etsy or other indie shopping sites and who knows, I may discover more indie designers with special niches.
