Going for Lasik Eye Surgery 0

Posted on July 14, 2010 by dorischua

After a long consideration, I have decided to go for lasik eye surgery next month. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 10 years old and I just think that it’s about time to lay off my glasses.

I used to think that the indie look doesn’t go too well with glasses but with today’s trend in glasses, this is not true anymore. Whenever I visit my optician, she’s always showing me the new designs and some of them are just tad too cool! The store even set up a facebook fan page for their clients so that they can update them on new styles in the store. You can’t afford not to move along with technology if you want to succeed in business today. You can even buy diet pills online these days – how convenient is that!

Tomorrow, I’ll be off to the lasik eye centre to check if I’m suitable for lasik treatment. It won’t be long that I can say goodbye to those cool glasses. Then, I’ll be shopping for sunglasses next!

All About Apple 0

Recently, we launched a promotional campaign for our seminar and the lucky person walks away with the new revolutionary iPad. Actually I am not so passionate about getting the iPad until I watch the video in the website.

With almost 5 million sold worldwide and this number is still growing, this new ‘toy’ is one cool thing. Being an Apple user myself, I am now keen to own one and it’s hard to justify why I really need it. Since I read news in my iPhone, my argument is that it’s easier to read with a bigger screen. Hubby isn’t an iPhone user so he thinks I’m crapping. When we were in the smoke shop with some friends, I tried showing him someone who was using the iPad and he wasn’t even impressed!

Anyways, I just saw in Apple website that you can get the iTouch for free if you purchase a Mac – that’s a good deal I thought. So if you are thinking of moving on to the Mac platform, don’t miss this attractive and exciting giveaway!

Being Slender 0

Being slim and slender is the dream of many young women but some aren’t ready to pay the price at all.

Talk about exercise and you can hear lots of excuses. Yet, when you mention about a short cut to achieve that goal, they will be all ears. Just do a search in the internet for weight loss and you can find all kinds of resources and options, from hoodia to irvingia gabonensis. With a little cost and time, you can achieve the weight you desire is the promise. But I think nothing works better than a proper diet and ample exercise.

I agree that it’s hard to exercise regular when you have a busy schedule. But that is the only way to gain nice muscles and a slender body. Like they say, no pain and you will have no gain. The saying is true and sometimes you just have to accept it and work to reach that goal.

Skin and Beauty 0

I woke up this morning with what seems like a bad hair day. My skin was looking tired and I just couldn’t get my hair to settle the way I like it to be.

No woman likes to wake up with bad skin or a pimple popping on the face. We wish those creams we applied the night before can work a wonder and make us look a year younger. I suppose that’s why anti aging products are so hot these days. Everyone likes to look younger! Who likes to have dark circles or those panda eyes in the morning. For that reason, more and more cosmetic brands are launching new products to entice women who are after good looks and beautiful skin. As they say, the eyes is the window to the soul. So to look young, you would better do something to protect your eyes!

So for a simple homemade remedy to keep your eyes looking healthy, soak teabags overnight and put them over your eye area for 10 minutes. Not only will you get a calmer eye area after that, you would probably look fresher and more alert!

Shopping for Kids Clothing 0

Since becoming a parent six years ago, I have begun to pay closer attention to kids’ clothing. It surprises me that clothing for kiddies are trendier and more fashionable than those for the grown-ups!

Last week, I placed an order for a few pieces of kids apparel from one of my favourite kids’ store – Dpam.com – they have some of the coolest and most hip clothing for little ones. I couldn’t helped but ended up with more than 100 euros worth of kids apparel cos the online store was offering free shipping during this sale period. What was even better was the prompt delivery and within five days, I had already received the order. How efficient is that!

The online store is having a one-day free shipping today and there are hundreds, if not thousands of items on sale. Now that I had done my shopping, it’s time to check out acne treatments that work on behalf of a friend. I guess I can never get enough of web information with today’s fast internet connectivity.

The New Culture and Indie Lifestyle 0

I’ve been asked to read up some articles on being a minimalist and it seems to fit into the indie lifestyle.

Since I got my iPhone, it has been a great companion and it helps to connect me to my family and friends, near and far. It’s hard to come across someone who doesn’t have a mobile phone these days. Even grandmas and grandpas have cell phones that help them connect with their children and grand kids. It’s amazing how technology is changing the way we live our lives. During a family gathering some months, I caught up with my nieces and nephews and they were updating me with all kinds of iphone accessories. It seems that the younger generation are more well informed and they are so well versed with technology revolution.

With this change and emergence of a new future, I am curious to see how the indie lifestyle can blend well with the new culture.

Indie Lifestyle and Growing Up 0

My good friend had just returned from a vacation in Geneva and she was sharing about the fun times she had. Being an indie traveler with enjoys an indie lifestyle, she used to sew and design her own clothes when she was a teenager. Looking back, we just reallized we are not getting any younger!

Often times, we look after and realize that time passes us by so quick. And it seems like yesterday that I became a new mom and I could remember how conscientious I was with my one a day prenatal vitaminswhen I was expecting. Now, my son is turning six in a few months’ time. Since becoming a mom, keeping an indie lifestyle hasn’t been possible cos there are far more responsibilities I have to shoulder now.

Hopefully I can still enjoy more of my me-time where I can do my indie things and lead that lifestyle I had when my junior grows up. By then, I might have a new set of worries to think about…

Checking out Brisbane Holiday Village 0

Posted on June 22, 2010 by dorischua

I’ve heard about the wonderful holiday parks and villages in Australia but have never visited any of them. But I know that holiday villages/parks are popular among families and indie travelers.

These past days, I was busy checking out the details of Brisbane Holiday Village as we may be staying there for a fortnight or more in December. I was impressed by the cabins and facilities and I believe it’s a great place for families holidaying in the region. I know that there are bbq grills in the vicinity but I’m not sure if there is going to be an electric grill in the cabin. After comparing the rates between all the cabins, I am keen to go for a nice cabin for our family of three.

With this in plan, I am so excited with the entire planning of this move. Let’s just hope that there are cabins available for the dates I am planning for.

Back From Short Break 0

Indie holidays are great when you need to rejuvenate and restore the mind. A friend of mine suggested that every one of us should take a break once a month or so, be alone and talk to no one. No cellphones, no email, just plain solitude.

Well, this wouldn’t be easy for some people I guess but it’s a good practice if you want to restore the mind. I just got back from a camp and am recuperating from the long journey in the car. We spent a little time at the beach where little junior got to splashing some sea water on his feet. Not much time for sand castle building cos the weather wasn’t that great. We wanted to check out atv riding in a nearby forest but there wasn’t sufficient time too.

I can’t wait for another break end July and I hope to explore nature more this time around. For now, it’s back to work and the daily routine!

Shopping and Eating Time 0

Summer sale is on in some of my favourite hunts and I’m hoping to find some indie clothing in my shopping spree next week. With so many big brands and fashion labels emerging, there are lots of mass produced clothing in the stores but I still prefer some indie labels that are unique and creative.

There’s a favourite shop called Womb that I love. The clothing has an artistic twist to it and every design only comes in a few pieces. Whenever I’m visiting the store, I always end up with a few items which sometimes bring the guilt out of me! Besides shopping in my favourite store, I would head to my favourite cafe for a good roast beef sandwich which reminds me that I need to get some weightloss products for a friend.

Eating and shopping are both my favourite past times and I can’t think of anything more relaxing than these when I’m on a vacation. Let’s hope I don’t go overboard and end up with too much to carry at the end of the four days’ trip!
