Need a Break for my Indie Stuff 0

Posted on March 04, 2010 by dorischua

The weather is taking a toll on my body and I haven’t been able to think straight last few days. With the challenges of parenting surmounting, I feel like taking a few weeks break to pursue some of my indie interests.

One of the things to get my mind off things is to take a break in the library and read up some fashion magazines. I gather alot of ideas from these magazines and that gave me inspiration to design some stuff of my own. Creativity to me is more than just drawing and designing, it’s about the process of arriving to a thought and idea. I love concepts and how things arrive to where they are. Even by looking at advertisements on billboard such as insurance advertising, I take the opportunity to think of the idea behind the picture and the message that lies within.

I am looking forward to the weekends ahead and hoping to design some overdue cards for a few friends whom I miss. Making simple cards is as indie as I can be even in the midst of this tiring schedule. Yet, I like moving forward and looking ahead of what lies beyond.

Happy New Year from Indie Voice 0

Posted on January 04, 2010 by dorischua

The new year marks a new dawn for all of us. It’s time to put behind the past and move forward to attain new goals, new dreams and new hopes. For indie artists and designers, it may mean new inspirations for a new collection or a new innovation of some kind.

As I went shopping over the weekends, I couldn’t helped but took a look a the exhibition on home theater in a neighbourbood shopping mall. These led hdtvs are so impressive these days. I could literally imagine myself relaxing over a nice movie in front of the huge tv. I have a few indie designer friends who enjoy staying in the home theater after a hard day’s work. They reckon that it’s better than going to the movies and sometimes, they even invite a bunch of friends to hang out together.

Not sure if I will ever invest in a huge tv for my home but I know it will be nice to watch a live concert on that sort of screen. Back to this year’s resolutions, I hope to lead a healthier lifestyle and practice some indie principles. My visit to a local flea market will start the ball rolling as I play my part to support those indie artists in the making.

What’s Left About Being Indie 0

Christmas is over and I believe by now, you would have unwrapped your gifts and indulged in all your gourmet meals. At home, we had a quiet Christmas with some friends and that’s what I like about the festive. Good friends get together and what more, we are serenaded with some indie music by a musician friend.

$50.00
Hubby was happy about his fashion tees and they made him felt and looked young! My little kiddo at home has been busy with his Christmas gifts – sitting in front of my laptop and enjoying his games. For me, I had a new pair of sandals – not indie ones but for that quality and history, it is as indie as it can be! Birkenstock sandals! For some people, Christmas may mean no gifts this year. Someone was talking about looking up south jersey jobs after Christmas during our lunch conversation. Another talked about moving to a new home in the New Year.

Well, I’m not sure how’s Christmas is like for you – whether it’s a turkey dinner or a quiet one with just a simple meal, what matters most is, who are you spending it with. I hope you have a nice one and before I before, Have an Indie New Year too!

Happy Christmas From Indie Voice 0

Tis the season to be jolly as the oven bakes the most delicious dinner and the table lined with Christmas candies and chocolates. By now, most of you would have completed your Christmas shopping and perhaps some have opened up their Christmas gifts!

I just returned from a family vacation and it was another nice trip for all of us. Amidst the bags left unpacked on the floor, we are enjoying our tid bits and delicacies bought during our trip to Taiwan. We had lunch with some friends this afternoon and it is going to be a peaceful and quiet dinner for us tonight. We’ll be meeting a friend in the fulfillment center business on Christmas and then, it’s more dinners over the next couple of days.

So to all indie fans and followers, here’s wishing you a happy Christmas and stay indie throughout the New Year!

use it to search indie and more 0

The internet is a vast of information for everyone of all ages. People use it to search from indie clothing to indie music, from organic living forum to outdoor forums.

Personally, I used it both for leisure and work. For business, it’s used for research and lots of promotional activities. For leisure, it’s for my passion in indie clothing, health matters, exercise, fitness and more. Basically, the search engines are powerful enough to bring back any kind of information and material you need including online videos, photos, chatting and social networking.

What do you use the internet for?

indie niche to unfold 0

Posted on March 10, 2009 by dorischua

I took a break this morning to check out the property market before continuing my research into my indie site search.

With the current credit situation, it seems that landowners are offering wholesale lots at good deals. Though we won’t be purchasing our property till later but it’s good to know what’s going on in the market.

It seems that the indie music market will continue to grow no matter what the current market situation is. As far as art is concerned, there’s no stopping for those who are passionate about indie arts and design. So hopefully by next week, the niche for my indie site will unfold.

a rise of indie designers in the new year 0

Posted on December 29, 2008 by dorischua

This seems to be a rough year for many people with lots of retrenchment and financial turmoil for many industries. People are changing their lifestyles to cope with turbulent times as things continue to look bleak in the new year.

Personally, I have been looking at low cost term life insurance rates and other ways to streamline our financial spending in the coming year. It looks like I would have to shop less and consider other creative means to cut cost in my lifestyle. Perhaps it’s a good time to learn how to knit or sew since I’ve always wanted to create my own clothing. I foresee that the indie design market will become popular as more people turn to making things with their hands. This may also mean that more people may discover their inner talents and turn indie designers during these difficult times.

last minute Christmas 0

Posted on December 24, 2008 by dorischua

This is one Christmas where I find myself late in buying Christmas gifts and slack in getting things done. Previous years, I would print my own handmade Christmas cards with my Macbook and laser printer but due to the busy family vacation, I haven’t had time to create anything of my own.

Now that it’s Christmas eve, I may be able to design a couple of Christmas cards for some closest friends around me. Have yourself a blessed Christmas.

christmas shopping goes on 0

With all these eating and partying this Christmas, I would better get on to an elliptical once the season is over. I was shopping this morning in a local mall and was so happy to grab some half price buys. Alldressedup has always been my favourite line of casual yet professional line of clothing and it is hard to resist the good buys. This is just in time of the Christmas season as well as the Lunar New Year celebration next month. Next few days will be Christmas shopping for my big boy at home and my family.

indie in tokyo 0

Posted on December 09, 2008 by dorischua

I really wish I have more time in Tokyo so that I can hunt around for good indie designer clothing in harajuku and aoyama. I have been told that there are many cool and creative indie designers in the area but somehow, locating them can be challenging when I am not proficient in the language.

We are into our third week of our family vacation before heading back in a few days’ time. I have a long list of things to do when we return including settling my home insurance, personal bills, family errands…etc. So I apologize that I haven’t been very regular in my posting as it is hard to keep things in check when I am traveling. Shop indie this Christmas!
