those who love handmade metal jewelry 0

Posted on October 31, 2008 by dorischua

Those who love metal jewelry or who like to work with metals can now visit Etsy Metal (http://etsymetal.com/) directly instead of searching in Etsy’s large directory of indie artists and designers. Being a designer myself, I support handmade products and original artwork and designs. If only I have the time, I would love to work on more crafts and metals like what I used to do before.

tree bark ring by Beth Cyr Jewelry – organic/metal

I used to be crazy about creating my own metal jewelry like how those bodybuilders get crazy over legal steroids. I recalled making my own wedding tiara with swarokski crystals and pearls, it was inspiring! Hopefully one day I can learn more about metal working techniques and create more indie designs and turn them into handmade gifts.

abstract cedar bracelet from novica 0

This morning, I was checking out some diet pill reviews and came across some beautiful abstract and fiery jewelry in the web during my regular surfing.

I’m not sure if you have checked out Dawanda but it sure is a great place to find indie and artistic creations from independent designers and artists. The Flames of Love is an elegant necklace which composed of red handmade lampwork glass beads, dark red Swarovski crystals, mookaite, small red faceted glass beads and gold-plated discs.

For a abstract and fiery look, talented painter, Gerard Terrien brings motifs from his canvases to this dramatic cedar bracelet. Red and black represent sunset’s splendor, linked by silver beads. He paints the motifs freehand on cedar wood, so no two pieces of jewelry are exactly identical. Check out for more NOVICA – Handmade Artisan Jewelry from Around the World.

Hear what his customers have to say:

Received the Earth & Wine II bracelet yesterday. My wife liked it very much. She has a lot of jewelry and it is always difficult to find something unique for her. This is a lovely addition to her collection.

The Night and Fire bracelet is absolutely fantastic. The workmanship is superb and the colours complement each other magnificently. It is a work of art and I can’t stop looking at it. Thank you!

carnelian and citrine artisan pendant by busarin 0

I have been noticing the labels “fair trade” and “ethical” being used on skin care, apparel and home products these days. These labels basically mean “social movement and market-based approach to alleviating global poverty and promoting sustainability. The movement advocates the payment of a fair price as well as social and environmental standards in areas related to the production of a wide variety of goods.”

For true artisan and indie creations, Novica.com has lots to offer. If you are a fan of gemstones, silver and handmade necklaces, rings and bracelets, you will be spoilt for choices. I’ve always adore the works of Busarin who is a talented indie designer who hails from Thailand. I love her clever way of combining the gemstones and tranforming these colourful stones into a piece of wearable art.

This Carnelian and citrine choker, ‘Flight’ mimics the butterfly’s translucent wings. Made of carnelian, citrine and crystal, this beautiful pendant hangs from a yellow leather cord to accentuate the charm of the free-spirited woman. online shopping for diamond jewelry 0

Shopping for a woman has never been more fun and satisfying since the emergence of online technology. As a work at home mom, online shopping saves me lots of time and money too – no more traffic jams, parking problems, waiting in the queue, searching for specific products in a big mall/store and no worries about fuel consumption!

Whether it’s apparel or jewelry shopping, I’ve done it all and still loving it. I appreciate well designed online stores where I can find a wide range of products organized in proper categories and simplify my navigation process. If you are shopping for diamond jewelry, engagement rings, diamond pendants, gemstone necklaces, diamond earrings, you ought to check out MyJewelryBox.com. The site design is very neat and elegant with an user-friendly interface that enables shoppers to find their jewelry in their respective categories.

You can choose to shop by product, by material or by price and to make things easier, the different line of products can also be found at the top navigation bar. What I like most are the photos of the jewelry. They are very well photographed and clearly represented with detailed description, selling price, retail value and the savings for each item.

Personally, I find the princess cut diamond solitaire ring very irresistible. Valued at close to $12K, I am shocked that a 1 carat princess cut diamond set in 18 karat white gold is available at $3,495! Now I have to find an excuse to add that to my diamond rings collection :) Diamonds, pearls, gemstones, gold, silver and even Murano glass, this online store has everything for today’s modern women.

handmade pendant using weaving techniques 0

I haven’t been around in Mintd.com much lately. There is so much to do at work and online browsing and shopping is more than a luxury now for now. I’ve been thinking about getting a pocket watch for a good friend’s upcoming birthday but stumbled upon this sweet and unique turquoise pendant instead.

This is a handmade pendant using wire crochet and weaving techniques. Turquoise chip-beads are added to color and contrast the silver. Ladies with a spirited personality and a passion for an ‘unplugged’ look will find this bold piece endearing.

floral and fauna jewelry 0

I love exchanging resources and ideas with indie design enthusiasts. Lately, I got to know someone who is the expert for cheap shopping buys in the web. Ask her about cheap jewelry, cheap home and decor items, cheap shoes, bags, cheap Phentermine and even cheap toys and she’ll point you to the right places.

She’s also a fan of Mintd.com and that’s just one of my favourite sites for indie designs and artistic finds. We are both fond of floral and fauna jewelry and the creations of Sudlow are definitely one of our favourites. This piece of jewelry is inspired by plant life and nature itself. What a feminine piece!

What I like about another indie site is Mintd.com where you can find eclectic jewelry to home items including sofa sets and : outdoor lighting.

This stunning Lilas bracelet is hand fabricated with raw looking gemstones and keshi pearls. Here’s the description:

Large plump faceted Pink Amethyst briolettes, faceted flashy nuggets of Labradorite, peacock Keshi Pearl blossoms with Pink Amethyst faceted rondelle centers, smooth flashy Labradorite pebbles and faceted Pink Amethyst coins make up this lush bracelet.

This is one lovely piece for the lady who loves chunky bracelet and an arty combination of gemstones. Organic and very indie. Created by Elaine Haydon.

wearable art and modern jewelry 0

Wearable art is one way people used to describe the creations of indie artists and designers. My fifty year old aunt isn’t just another old lady who talks about medicare supplement and retirement homes, she is one cool lady who admires and collects modern and wearable art whenever she travels.

She was telling me about designer Ryan Kundrat’s jewelry lines for women which ranges from the elegant to the edgy. Clean lines and bright colors are signature to his hoopla creations. Using creative names and descriptive terms like hoopla, tink, tink black, martini, each collection has its distinctive features and personal touch that reflects his modern approach to traditional materials.

i love circles jewelry 0

My dear sister has been raving non stop about the las vegas hotels she stayed in after a long holiday in Florida. She was showing me her shopping buys, psychedelic finds and her indie bargains… you could tell she had a great time in Las Vegas!

This sister of mine got so excited when I gave her this cute vintage pendant from Anne Kiel one Christmas. Anne Kiel is a jewelry designer known for her vintage illustrations and photographs set in sterling silver. She loves experimenting with modern form and bold use of color to create eclectic, hand-fabricated works of wearable art. Among some of her beautiful and artistic creations, I love the playful circles in her sterling silver Trio and Inner Circles… don’t ask me why but circles are creative forms that speak to me… they are perfectly whole and complete!

contemporary art with lulu 0

Who is not drawn by colours and creativity? It is refreshing, enlightening and inspiring! I always love contemporary and modern art. My husband always wonder why I spend all that time hunting for unique Thermal labels while he would just settle for anything on the shelf.

If you are just like me, then don’t pass the colourful jewelry crafted by Lulu Smith. Simplicity and colours are the distinct styles of Lulu, a creative colorist whose work features sensual, haphazardly poured color, some are complex, conceptual and exotic, while some just make you smile from the simple, happy visual impact.
