One of my favourite hobbies is to design and create my own handmade greeting cards for friends on special occasions. I used to do them alot in the past but it’s been hard to find time to do it these days. Making indie cards can be meaningful and inspirational. Recently I received one with a photo mosaic on it, I thought that was kinda cool.
For those who don’t know, a photo mosaic is a photo made up of many smaller photos. To say it another way: A photo mosaic is a photo that has been divided up into small squares or rectangles. Each rectangle is the replaced by a separate photo that closely approximates the color the rectangle was. One of the first creators of photo mosaics, Robert Silvers, patented the production of and name photomosaic. However, there are many companies around the world using various methods and technologies to legally create photo mosaics.
Well, perhaps I may need a pair of safety glasses if those mosaics are real pieces of ceramic! Imagine a mosaic painting dropping and falling down!! But don’t get confused… these photo mosaics are just coined by the little sizes and not those mosaics you see in kitchen table tops and walls!

The online retail industry is growing daily, despite the sluggish economic outlook. Search in the web and you can find almost anything under the sun. I mean – anything! From handmade jewelry to natural health therapies, to best fat burners, to eco friendly toys, there are more shopping options than you expect or ask for.
Even when it comes to selecting indie designer cards, the choices abound and you can find in etsy and also supermarkethq.com. For handmade jewelry, check out Novica.com. Like things a little bit different, indie design is the way to go!

I just came back from a thanksgiving party. This invitation came through the electronic media. We got an e-card for this invitation which caused me to miss the good old days of receiving handmade invitations. Eight years ago, I designed our wedding invitations and each one was hand made with love and great care. It took me some time to find the right paper stock and motifs for the design and it was very special to us. With online technology, people can now order baby shower invitations, birthday and wedding invitations online and it has become so convenient and easy. But given a choice, I still enjoy making my own greeting cards and adding a personal touch to the design. For me, nothing can replace a ‘real’ card as the message and thoughts will last for the longest time.

Well, it may sound cruel to suggest this but if you want to irritate someone who is trying hard to lose weight or is on Leptovox, send her this chocolaty yummy, sinful looking Strawberry Cupcake card. Well, she may not be that pleased with you but you may satisfy her cravings or at most, encourage her that at the end of her weight loss program, this is the treat she’s gonna to get!
This cute card was created with decoupaged, curled & overlapped card layers depicting a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting topped with a tiny strawberry. The designer cum chef baked, decorated and photographed this cupcake before photographing then eating it!

Seriously, I’ve always love collecting writing sets, wrapping paper and stationery. At one point, my mom got worried about the ‘junk’ I was accumulating at home! Even now, I can’t resist these printing paper stuff when I’m in the paper shops, gifts shops or when I’m traveling. People bring back souvenirs and I’ll bring back paper stuff!
I stumbled upon this lovely site Poppies for Grace during my usual online research sessions. I can’t tell you how much I love these beautiful writing sets – they are practical, creative, unique, personal and affordable. Believe me, they are hard to resist!
