Beautiful Appearances Comments Off

Posted on June 10, 2011 by dorischua

Having a beautiful face is what many teenage girls and women desire and much of it is affected by what they read from magazines and media. I suppose that explains why many companies are selling beauty products that promise good looks, youthful appearances and even acnefree faces.

While there is nothing wrong pursuing good features, there should be a limit. Everyone of us should learn to accept who we are and be happy for what we are made to be. We can beautify ourselves as long as we don’t go overboard to make that happen. If life is just focused on that alone, it can become miserable and stressful in the long run.

There are many websites that offer discounts and sale promotions which makes online shopping a popular mainstream activity today.

More and more people are reading skin care reviews on the web since it provides them real life advices on how to tackle their skin concerns, I tend to read reviews of beauty products before buying them and it helps me know if certain products can cater to my needs. Don’t believe everything the sales assistant says as they only know how to sell you things to fatten their commission pocket!

Sleep and Healthy Eyes Comments Off

I have always been told that I have good skin except for some congestion on my nose. But whenever the beauty therapist looks at my eyes, she always asks if I have sufficient sleep.

Well, I grew up with puffy eyes and it got worse when I became a graphic design student. The busy and irregular hours of a designer makes my dark circles under eyes worse so it’s even uglier! Well, I had tried so many treatments and it seems that the best would still be getting a good sleep. Having a good sleep means sleeping earlier too and not overworking. I’m trying to turn in early these days and I find that I’m feeling better with this adjustment. Plus I’m not getting very young anymore!

The Truth About Hair 0

Human hair is made of cells just like the rest of the body. When new cells are formed at the roots, the hair is gradually pushed further and further out of the follicle, the tube-like pouch below the skin surface. The portion of the hair that that protrudes from the follicle is known as the shaft.

Each strand is attached to the base of the follicle by the hair root, where the hair grows and gets nourishment from tiny blood vessels. When they are pushed further away from the source of nourishment, they die and transform into a hard protein called keratin. Therefore, the hair we see above the skin is dead protein. It is the follicle, which lies deep in the skin, that is the essential growing part of the hair. So, the strands of hair we see in the basin after we shampoo are usually hairs that have been previously shed. Sometimes it surprises me that people go great lengths to find the best diet pills but they don’t give similar emphasis on their hair.

However, having balding areas are obviously a sign of hair loss. Generally, men lose their hair at the sides of the forehead. Most of the time, it occurs during middle age, though it can happen at any time after puberty. There are those who lose their hair at the top of their head. This is called common baldness or male pattern baldness, where only the sides and back of the head have hair, leaving a horseshoe shape.

Health and Aging 0

It’s good to remember, too, that every grocery store and almost every restaurant offer us delicious, healthy, nutrient-packed alternatives to the jelly doughnuts and double cheeseburgers we crave! The next time you go shopping, add some healthy choices to your grocery cart; things like berries, leafy greens, veggies, lean meat, whole-wheat bread, and low-fat dairy products.

Sometimes, even if we are trying to eat healthy foods, our diet doesn’t provide us with the amount of vitamins and minerals that we need. This is when we need to look to vitamin supplements. There are a number of anti-aging vitamins on the market, and one of them is right for you. My cousin was telling me about her best tattoo removal cream experience and her encounters with some anti aging treatments. If you need some help deciding which anti-aging vitamin you should buy, ask a pharmacist or your doctor. Your doctor can also tell you if you should be taking a multi-vitamin along with your anti-aging supplement in order to make it more effective. If you have always thought that vitamins were only for older people, give them a second chance! You’ll feel energized and healthier if you make them part of your daily routine.

You can consider exfoliating like using very fine sandpaper for your skin. You will be using a mildly abrasive material that buffs away dead skin cells, leaving glowingly healthy skin in its place.

Exfoliating has several benefits. First, old dead skin cells making your complexion dull are scrubbed off, leaving new fresh skin cells. Additionally, after exfoliation, it is easier for skin to absorb moisturizers and other skin treatments. A good intake of protein powder is said to be helpful.

If your complexion is normal to oily, exfoliating is helpful three to four times a week. For drier skin, exfoliation should only be done one to two times a week maximum. You should establish a skincare routine that includes all of these products, and adds a cleaner and moisturizer. You will keep your skin healthy far longer and feel better as well.

Facial Masks and Beauty 0

Facial mask products can be found for any skin type or condition. Do you suffer from acne or blackheads? There are facial masks that you apply, let dry dry and then peel off. Dead skin covering blackheads will become unclogged which helps clear them up. There are also facial masks that you apply and allow to dry, like mud masks. When you are done, you wash your face with warm water to remove the mud mask.

Mud masks have a number of benefits, including oil control. This is helpful if you are complimenting it with good acne treatment creams. You skin will glow with health, not shine with oil. The impurities in your skin’s pores are removed by the mud mask, and appearance of those pores will be minimized. Pimple growth is lessened and blackheads dissolve and wash away.

Use Best Products for Skin 0

So, what can women do? How can they combat environmental pollutants, the affect of solar radiation, and the drying effects of air? How can they be sure they are using the very best products on their skin so they can be healthy inside and out?

If possible, use products that are paraben free. Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives that are widely used in personal care products such as shampoos, conditioners, hair styling products, make-up, facial masks, skin lotions and creams, and deodorants. They also are typically ingredients in baby lotions, shampoo for thinning hair, and other personal care products for infants and children. In addition, parabens are in many foods and pharmaceutical products. Researchers are beginning to find parabens in benign and malignant human breast tumors. While some studies have challenged their toxicity in many products and question their long term affect on humans, using products that are paraben free can eliminate the risk of exposure to this harmful chemical.

Missing my Facials 0

It’s been a very busy week these two months and I can hardly find time to go for my facials and massages.

Booking an appointment with my facial therapist is a time where I can pamper myself and relax a little. Facials are good to prep up the skin and boost up the moisture levels if your skin is tired. I’ve seen how people with face problems and even chin acne receive help from regular facials. But make sure you choose the right products and therapists. Just when I thought that I could go for my facial this week, I found out that I have a lunch appointment. How sad!

Oh well it looks like I would need to postpone my appointment to next week. A home mask tonight should do the job for now.

Beauty Buys and Guilt 0

As I was packing my room in prep for our move, my hubby stepped in. He couldn’t believe that I have so much beauty products lying around in the room and I have assured him that I have stopped my buying spree.

I looked at what I have accumulated over the years and I was filling guilty about my overspending habits in the past. From clay masks to wrinkle fillers, I have tried so many brands and labels and now, I am glad that I’m sticking to some trusted ones. These days, I would ask for samples for any expensive beauty products before buying any. If you are unsure of the effectiveness of the product, try out a small sample first before parting your money with it.

With some in the trash, I’m trying to finish using up all that I had on my vanity table now. This is to reduce my luggage weight so that I have room for some last minute shopping!
