ornamental makeup bag 0

I can’t take my eyes off eccentric prints and unique fabrics on crafts and home decor. This makeup bag was spotted during my first visit at Dawanda.com, another one of those cool indie marketplace that connects buyers and sellers together. Much like Etsy except that they may not that big. Though I can’t understand french, I’m sure glad that visuals speak a thousand words.

This beautiful makeup bag is made of lightweight-cotton fabric with a striking ornamental print. Perfect size for cosmetics and make-up. Or to be used as a small toilet bag for travelling. (By seller: fraeuleinherz). This is one item that every lady won’t mind having as part of her travel essentials!

While attending a talk on Los Angeles labia reduction procedure, my girl cousin happened to sit next to this lady who is a fan of indie stuff. And since my cousin knew about my penchant for indie accessories and clothing, she couldn’t wait to tell me more about her conversion with this lady. And that’s how I learnt about Poppytalk handmade. sperm accessories and more 0

Before you think that these are just some ordinary silver jewelry. Well, look carefully – they are actually inspired by the fertility symbol of a male sperm! I find them so cute and playful. Found at Stitchpixie, each accessory is designed and handmade by Cyan, an artist from Vancouver, BC. She is heavily inspired by pop art and retro memorabilia, and she has a greater interest in fashioning unique designs rather than mass-producing the same piece.

You can tell that she combines punchy color with simplicity and function. Her Akimbo line of sterling earrings incorporates the earring functionality into the overall design for a sleek, aesthetically balanced feel. Her vegan-friendly vinyl pouches and wristlets deconstruct everyday images into simple di- or tri-chromatic works that tackle everything from mammalian reproduction to nature scenes. She is heavily inspired by pop art and retro memorabilia, and she has a greater interest in fashioning unique designs rather than mass-producing the same piece. Oh, need we read more!  By the way, 10% of proceeds from stitchpixie.com go towards sponsoring a child named memory in zambia.

fun and colourful from Kailo chic 0

Posted on December 23, 2007 by dorischua

I just splurged on another Marc by Marc Jacobs a couple of weeks ago. Don’t ask me why but there is always a reason why I need another new bag added to my current collection. I always have to explain to DH that we women need a different bag for an occasion or attire. There are some bags which look good with just about any clothing but sometimes, you need a few signature ones to add that fun and coolness to your appearance. How about these cute floral ones  for the weekend with your girlfriends from Kailo Chic?
