Featuring Sustainable VerdeRocks Jewelry 0

Posted on October 03, 2009 by dorischua

When it comes to choosing an unique gift for a girl friend, I tend to browse through the indie accessories collection for a start. I prefer to choose gifts that are creative and different. It makes the recipient happy and it makes my day too.

For today’s feature from the Indie Fashion store, I have picked VerdeRocks Jewelry Dragonfly Cuff. Though I’m not so big on gold jewelry, this piece of indie accessory is a lovely piece that catches my attention. I first heard about VerdeRocks from a friend who is in the term life insurance business and here’s what I learned about the brand. Being an alternative fashion accessories brand, VerdeRocks creates jewelry using new “old stock” vintage components. Each piece is created in limited editions and is unique in style and availability. The vintage materials include new lockets and cuffs, restored Victorian filigrees, and rare Swarovski crystals. You can trust their designs for a modern edge that still maintains an authentic, “old world” look and feel. Being a sustainable company, it uses vintage, recycled, and fair trade materials in all of their design pieces.

Years ago, I was caught up in this Swatch watches thatI was buying up all the artistic collection and seasonal launches that are designed by indie artists. As a designer, I find it very inspiring to admire the watch designs by various designers from time to time.

Though I don’t wear them anymore, I still look out for impressive art collections and indie designs by this watch maker. What’s cool about it is some of these indie designer watches are packaged in artistic packaging that are too nice to be stuffed in the cabinet.

iPhone covers for both genders 0

Posted on December 13, 2008 by dorischua

Finally, my brother in law had bought himself a new 16MB iPhone and a cell phone repeater and it looks like the only thing he needs now is a nice iPhone cover.

I search in Etsy for some iPhone covers and sleeves and it seems that there are more options for ladies than for men. Somehow, ladies tend to be more particular when it comes to finding a nice cover or packaging for personal belongings but men are more simple in that sense. But for a neat and tidy finish, this iPhone sock will be great for both genders. Find it at Etsy.

unique gift ideas: pop up photo album 0

Posted on August 27, 2008 by dorischua

I’ve always  attracted to cute and unique gift ideas so when I was assigned to search for an unique gift for a close cousin, I took up the offer right away!

It seems that my family knows that I’m an avid online shopper though I do enjoy dropping by the malls for updates on new trends and styles for the season, especially when a seasonal sale is on. Who doesn’t like sale? Ladies, anyone? To increase store efficiency, most store are equipped with all kinds of pos products to serve their customers better. The more eco friendly way to start a store is to use a refurbished point of sale or second hand pos scanners since they are of top quality most of the time.

Back to shopping for unique gift ideas, I came across some cool gifts online today. My cousin loves collecting family reunion photos so when I saw this Pop-Up Photo Album, I know this is one unique gift that she will love to have for her birthday… watch this video:

abstract cedar bracelet from novica 0

Posted on August 11, 2008 by dorischua

This morning, I was checking out some diet pill reviews and came across some beautiful abstract and fiery jewelry in the web during my regular surfing.

I’m not sure if you have checked out Dawanda but it sure is a great place to find indie and artistic creations from independent designers and artists. The Flames of Love is an elegant necklace which composed of red handmade lampwork glass beads, dark red Swarovski crystals, mookaite, small red faceted glass beads and gold-plated discs.

For a abstract and fiery look, talented painter, Gerard Terrien brings motifs from his canvases to this dramatic cedar bracelet. Red and black represent sunset’s splendor, linked by silver beads. He paints the motifs freehand on cedar wood, so no two pieces of jewelry are exactly identical. Check out for more NOVICA – Handmade Artisan Jewelry from Around the World.

Hear what his customers have to say:

Received the Earth & Wine II bracelet yesterday. My wife liked it very much. She has a lot of jewelry and it is always difficult to find something unique for her. This is a lovely addition to her collection.

The Night and Fire bracelet is absolutely fantastic. The workmanship is superb and the colours complement each other magnificently. It is a work of art and I can’t stop looking at it. Thank you!

artistic cotton cushions from india 0

Posted on August 10, 2008 by dorischua

Are you a car lover? If you are, chances are, you wash your car more than once a week, vacuum and clean up as often as you possibly find dirt and mess in the car. You make sure that a car cover is used when you are away for a holiday and makes sure the cushions in the car are cleaned and changed as often as your mood changes too!

If you are in for some cute and artistic cushions, you will be impressed by this pair of Red Martini Gal cushions too. These seem like the right cotton cushions for the elegant ladies dressed in red. Bright and cheerful, this pair of cushion covers takes a cubist style. Artisan and designer Gulam Ahmed from India creates the motifs in woolen chain stitch on a cotton canvas backing. He brings a vibrant, modern design to the ancient Kashmir craft.

“My work is an expression of my thoughts. My designs are inspired by our ancient heritage and express the beauty of the flora and fauna of my home state, Kashmir. For crafting chain stitch rugs, we first trace the design on a cotton base and then do the chain stitch embroidery by using a special kind of needle called an aari in Kashmir. My father has been my constant source of inspiration. And it is my constant effort to create something new.” ~ Gulam Ahmed.

Gulam Ahmed depicts his subject in cubist style, suggesting movement and moods that flicker across a thoughtful face. Clear colors make this an enchanting example of modern Kashmiri design. Crafted by hand with fine chain stitches, the cushion covers feature wool on a cotton canvas backing. An opening on the back permits cushion insertion.
