Is Losing Weight Your Goal? 0

Posted on May 31, 2010 by dorischua

Whenever it comes to setting yearly goals, many people tend to have ‘losing weight’ as one of their goals. But as the festive ends and every one gets back to the routine, the goals are forgotten.

Let’s face it. It’s not easy to lose those extra pounds when you love to eat or your life is packed with parties and gourmet indulgence. But discipline always have to come in and that takes lots of efforts. You can be reading Clinicallix reviews or searching for weight loss pills and solutions but you still need efforts to see your goals come to pass.

So is losing weight a goal you had set earlier in the year. If it is, it’s time to review the goals and bring yourself back to it if you have forgotten all about it.

Are Vitamins Essential 0

Posted on May 31, 2010 by dorischua

During a dinner conversation with some friends, I learned that one or two of my friends do not believe in the consumption of vitamins. Being a health enthusiast, I personally believe that certain vitamins and supplements are essential for the body functions.

My friend further argued that he takes lots of fruits everyday and thus, he should not need any additional supplements. I told him that our diet tends to leave out the essential vitamins and we don’t consume enough nutritious foods in our daily diet. For most of us, we tend to go easy with our food choices when we get busy. This can also affect our health if we neglect it by supplying enough nutrients for necessary bodily functions. My husband loves chilli and he tends to over indulge in spicy foods which is bad for his digestion. If you have problems with digestion, you can learn more about various colon cleansing options to help you.

So it’s up to an individual if vitamins and supplements are essential. A balanced diet is still necessary but the addition of vitamins and supplements can assist in the bodily functional processes.

Shopping for Furniture 0

As I flip over the newspapers every morning, I’m noticing more and more furniture warehouse sale by various companies. Sale time is good for consumers who are looking for ways to save. However, it’s hard to get a sale for indie furniture since they are often made in smaller quantities.

I was doing a checklist of furniture to buy for the big move in December. After writing a dozen items in the list, I’m beginning to wonder if they will fit into the freight container! Besides a sofa set for the living area, we need a couple of beds for the bedroom and some knick-knacks for the house. It’s hard to buy furniture when you don’t even know how your house looks like. We would also need patio furniture for the outdoor area though we aren’t sure if we will have a big area or not.

With today’s powerful internet technology, I can now get a gist of how our house will look at. Or I should at least know what kind of furniture I need to get to fit in today’s modern home.

Short Vacations Rejuvenating 0

Everyone has a routine every day and this includes a morning exercise and a coffee for some people. Others just like to flip open the daily newspapers and be informed of what’s going on around the world.

It is also necessary to take a holiday at least once a year for some others and I’m one of them! This year, I am planning a few short Asia trips and it’s something very unusual for me. For a long time, I prefer long holidays instead of getting in and out of the country every other month. But somehow, I am beginning to feel the thrill of it cos it’s nice to explore new destinations, sights and culture. I’m currently checking out Hanoi as we are soon planning a trip there. Some of the boutique hotels have ellipticals that we can enjoy during the trip.

So it’s Perhentian Island in July, Bali in August and Taipei, Hong Kong and Hanoi in September. And yes, short trips can be rejuvenating as well. If you are planning for your vacation, search your hotel to compare the best rates and savings for your vacation.

House Hunting for Down Under 0

With toady’s powerful online technology, it’s easy to access all kinds of information from the comforts of your home. So for the last few weeks, I have been checking out some real estate sites and finding out more about property rentals in down under.

There are so many different kinds of housing in Queensland. You have townhouses, queenslander homes, villas, low set homes and high set ones. It is advisable to view and inspect a potential rental home personally as you may want to check the condition of the house. Personally I hope to rent a newer property as I’m particular about old carpets or flooring. Homes built decades ago may give rise to mold and dust mites problems if the house hasn’t been cleaned regularly. I’m even more paranoid after reading about mesothelioma prognosis.

House hunting will be a tiring task in few months’ time but for now, let my fingers do the walking and searching as I prepare myself for the big move.

Searching for Books Online 0

It is so easy to find a good book to read these days. With so many online stores, you can order a book from the comforts of your home and have it delivered to your doorstep, it’s so convenient.

There are still many who prefer to shop and read books in the typical bookstore. Searching for books at a glance is still preferred by some who find it cumbersome to search for books online. You can also look at Amazon books and find out what’s on for special and save on your books purchases. What I really like about Amazon is that you can find many hard-to-get books which may not be easily available in your neighbour bookstore.

Searching for indie books has become much easier with today’s online technology. Don’t you agree?

Look After Your Health 0

A friend of mine made a statement during one of our lunch meetings the other day. She said that we use all our health to chase wealth in our days of youth, then when we have the wealth, we would use all of our wealth to chase health. How true is that.

In the urban society that you and I live in, we are bombarded by challenges and stresses of this world. There is nothing wrong with stress as long as we manage it well and not let it get hold of us. But problem starts to rise when we abuse our health in the midst of coping with stress. It is important to take care of our bodies regardless of the lifestyles you choose to live. When I was expecting, I was taking prenatal vitamins since my busy schedule doesn’t allow me to eat optimally. I drink lots of water everyday and try to include a few servings of fruits everyday.

As indie as you can be, don’t neglect your health because you have the obligation to look after your earthly bodies.

On Weight Issues 0

Nobody likes to be called a fatso or be labeled as an overweight kid. But sometimes we are misled by what the media shows us about being slim and trimmed. Teenagers are being influenced by the media’s ideas of being attractive and appealing. It’s all about dressing well and looking as slim as the model on the cover page.

Well, I’m not against diets and I think rightly chosen, diets can save lives! There are people who struggle with weight loss and they do need to go on diet! But dieting doesn’t mean aiming to be skinny. To me, it’s about choosing the right foods and eating optimally. Exercise plays an important role to keeping your weight in check so dieting alone isn’t going to solve an overweight issue. There are diets that work and diets that won’t. One should really consult a nutritionist if a proper diet pattern is required. Otherwise, eating a balanced diet of whole grains, healthy fats and nutritious fruits and raw vegetables are a good start.

A Day In My Life 0

For many years, exercise has been integral in our lives. My hubby wakes up very early in the morning to get his exercise and being an early riser, he gets lots done for the day. As for me, waking up early is obligatory for I need to get ready my preschooler for school.

Regular exercise is beneficial for the body. I tend to feel more energetic and motivated, breaking off from the sluggishness of a tired body. When I’m in Pilates, I was taught some ab workouts which I could practice at home. It takes discipline just to clock up a half hour of exercise each day. Afternoons are spent in the home office as I try to get more done before little junior comes home. Thus, I dislike meetings as they tend to take up too much of my productive hours.

After dinner, we like to sit down and relax over a cup of coffee in our comfortable and luxurious LoveSac. It is so nice when you can sit back and slumber on the oversized bean bag while watching your favourite movie. As you do that, you can only be thankful that life is just so good. Share the love a gift from LoveSac.com for your loved ones. Click here for great gift ideas!

Indie Travel to Bali 0

Posted on May 04, 2010 by dorischua

Many friends have told me about their indie travel experiences to Bali and Lombok and for a long time, I’ve been wanting to visit this lovely island. After a discussion with my other half, we are heading to Bali for a short break in August.

Call it summer vacation or what, I am geared up to relax in one of the Bali Villas and sit at the patio to listen to some nice music. Some of the luxury villas have spacious garden and a good size private swimming pool so you can really plan your activities. Imagine sitting at the day bed with a book, sipping a nice cocktail and chatting with a good friend? My uncle often does this with an electronic cigarette and his wine at the private villa whenever he’s traveling alone with some friends.

Indie travel to Bali can be so much fun. For me, it won’t be that independent cos my kid will be tagging along for this vacation. Nevertheless, Bali should be a nice place for anyone who wants to experience slow travel.
