Want to Get Well Soon! 0

Posted on November 26, 2009 by dorischua

I don’t like being sick during a vacation but unfortunately, I came down with fever, bad cold and cough yesterday. Now, I’m contemplating seeing a doctor since I will be away from home for ten more days.

I can’t emphasize the importance of healthcare these days. When I travel, I will make sure I have a travel insurance. There are so many different kinds of health plans including bcbsnc and some others. Though some people think that healthcare is not necessary, but they start to get anxious when they need to visit a medical center.

I’m off to see a doctor later before visiting Clayton’s new school. I really pray that this fever will subside so that I can be up and running again.

Summer is Coming! 0

It’s end of spring here and it’s a nice weather really. I don’t need those thick sweaters or clothing so that makes my packing alot easier. I brought a couple of indie tee shirts and a pair of extra pants for the trip.

I recalled having to ask my cousin for heated blanket when I was here few years ago. You do need one in winter especially when you are staying in the bush.

We will be visiting Clayton’s new school later today and we are really excited about it. Perhaps I can do some shopping later for some indie clothing after that. Otherwise, it would have to be done online since it’s alot more convenient!

Indie Vacation In the Bush 0

Posted on November 26, 2009 by dorischua

What a nice and relaxing way to spend my vacation in a bush! I arrived in Burbank Queensland two days ago and I was so impressed with the bush setting at my cousin’s house. It’s just great for an indie traveler. I wonder if someone else convert one of the acreage to a bed and breakfast!

I went shopping with my cousin for spa filters as she reckoned that I would love a dip in the spa during my stay with her. I haven’t done much the last two days except for taking a walk in the bush with my son, catching butterflies and exploring the trail. It was a relaxing experience for me.

This weekends, I will be visiting the weekend markets and hope to shop for some indie clothing at the markets. It should be nice. The weather is warming up so a handmade hat will be nice too. Vacations are great to rejuvenate the body and mind if done right. I am enjoying my quietness in the bush while catching up with some lost sleep over those busy days.

Even though we know that ‘beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder’, we know that people do take great lengths to look good as they age. These days, more and more people are seeking for natural remedies to solve their beauty needs. In case you don’t know, some of the beauty treatment secrets can be found in your kitchen. Being indie is not just about a free and creative attitude, it’s also to go back to the basics and seek the naturals.

For a start, let’s look at the many benefits of honey and how it can play in part in beauty treatments from home. Honey in its purest form is suitable for all skin typesí even sensitive skin. Beauticians suggest using honey abundantly for radiant complexion. Skin care products like baths, shower gels, face creams, skin lotions, moisturizers, body scrubs and even newborns products contain pure honey. I’m not sure if the below ideas can help with your dark circles but they are great for beautiful and youthful skin! Here are some ideas for the indie beau:

1) To moisturize dry skin: Use 1 tsp honey, vegetable oil each and º tsp of lemon juice. Pat it on dry areas of your skin, leave for 10 mins and rinse with water.

2) Make a moisturizing mask with 1 tsp of honey, 1 egg yolk, half tsp almond oil and 1 tsp yoghurt. Apply on your face, neck and other parts of your body. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse off with water. You skin will feel moisturized and polished with tightened pores.

3) For silky-smooth skin, mix half cup of honey and 3 tsp of rosewater. Apply to face, neck avoiding sensitive areas around the eye. Massage well and rinse with lukewarm water and enjoy the sensation of an all different skin.

4) Open the pores on your face by place a cloth dipped in warm water. Smear honey on your face for 20-30 minutes. Rinse first with warm water and then cold water to close the pores.

Indie Lifestyle and Slow Travel 0

With many people traveling this coming holiday season, there are tips to make your holiday a fun filled and hassle-free one. For people who embrace an indie lifestyle, there are places that are good for slow and eco travel.

Hiking or camping can be a good and inexpensive way to travel. It used to be popular among outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers but these days, indie travelers are following the trend too. Families tend to choose Outer Banks beach rentals and enjoy family fun together by doing more relaxing things. Indie travelers prefer freedom and space, flexibility and something off the beaten path. Getting to know the locals and indulging into the culture is something most independent travelers look for. After all, you want to reminisce and carry a tale about an unique culture to your friends after a holiday. It brings memories in years to come and your travel photos will speak volumes of your culture immersion.

Well, you don’t need to be leading an indie lifestyle to choose slow travel. All it takes it a prepared mind, a passion to learn about a new culture, an open mind and an adventurous free spirit to take you to places and experiences you have never encountered.

With thanksgiving and Christmas coming our way in the next few weeks, it’s time to look at what are some of the unique gift ideas for him and her.

To shop for a gift for that special person in your life is the toughest job indeed. You always want to get the best gift for your partner. If the choice is getting too difficult, it is safe to settle for generic options. In case you are looking to gift her, pick up a nice jewelry gift, which is easy to appeal to women. You could also chose from beauty products, stuffed toys, dresses or a good ladies perfume, which she will surely like. You can also create your own design and custom an embroidery on a t-shirt, sweater or accessory for a personal touch.

While choosing a present for him, the best options include the eternal, perfumes, fashion tees, office stationeries like organizers or a good branded pen. If your partner is a music freak you could also gift them with the latest release of their favorite musician. Or maybe check out the IT stuff on Cyber Monday for the techie guy.

The custom of exchanging gift is a sweet gesture to develop relationships and to show how much you care. Gifts are a great medium to express those thoughts, which you could not phrase in words.

I have finally got round to changing the header of this blog that centers around indie lifestyle, clothing and fashion. Due to my busy schedule and frequent procrastination, I have been putting up with the theme header for a long time and I’m so glad it’s done now.

One other addition to the indie fashion store is the ‘fashion tees‘ category which features unique and artistic t-shirts for adults and kids from Uneetee. The tees can be worn by both men and women and they are all creatively designed by indie designers from around the web. I stumbled upon the fashion tees when I was doing my research nutrition and weight loss pills. The tees are different, psychedelic, punk, arty and cool. They made great birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, anniversary gifts, graduation gifts or just as a surprise gift.

When choosing any furniture for your home reflect your indie lifestyle, you need to first understand what you want or prefer. The furniture in your living space should reveal your personality and flair. Contemporary furniture stores offers so many attractive designs and colors that attract many and these people have some piece of contemporary furniture in their home. It may be a modish rug, streamlined sofa or a stylish dining room set, contemporary furniture has turned into a symbol of modern simplicity.

Contemporary design is often sleek, cool and uncluttered and it can reverse a bedroom that is cold and gloomy. For ideas, choose a look with white and black, or red and black sheets. If you desire a pattern, then again it has to be bold and cool. In a modern bedroom with neutral walls, bright red on a bed will add elegance and warmth to your bedroom. It will also lighten the room, and formulate it more inviting, just the way you want your bedroom to be. The sheets on your mattress can complement the theme of the bedroom too. Indie styles are usually contemporary, simple and uncluttered with a touch of personal creativity!

Neutral colors are the finest choices for most modern looks these days. Neutral colors in your bedroom produce a clean and fresh look for the indie home. They also create the perfect backdrop for a lovely modern painting that will add more charm to your room. Contemporary designs are made with subtle colors to make them completely different from the typical traditional colored rooms. But in any case you are a fan of bright colors, don’t let anything stop you!

You can never go wrong with flowers. Most flower shops have delivery services and the easiest is to do it online. A more lasting floral gift is a flowering plant that can liven up a living space. You may also send a gift basket- a collection of items such as gourmet items, specialty products or personal care collection. Shopping online will present you lots of options and choices.

Another practical gift ideas will be a gift certificate, a pampering experience, adventure packages to makeover projects. Practical gifts can even be something the person needs for his or her home such as tile flooring! Always remember that when giving a birthday gift, the rule is you should like the gift first. Ask yourself, if you would like to receive the same thing for your birthday. If you answer yes, then you’re off to a good start.
