Organic Cotton Clothing For Kids 0

Posted on October 29, 2009 by dorischua

It’s been a while since I started bringing my own reusable bags when I’m out shopping. It feels good to know that I am doing my part for the environment even in this little manner. Then I began to grow interest in organic cotton clothing for my son who has sensitive skin and once again, it’s back to the web where I got more info.

If your child has sensitive skin, then you may want to take a good at organic cotton clothing too. Organic kids clothing usually use soy-based inks for printed colors and graphics. Cotton grown in a certified organic farm is used for these organic clothing. I do agree that they are dearer compared to normal kids clothing. But going organic is one way to support eco living principles if you can afford it. Thankfully, more designers are jumping onto the organic and eco bandwagon which can bring down the prices of these clothing.

For so others, going organic in everything is as important as getting a life insurance coverage for the entire family. Doctors have encouraged organic food eating for sickly patients and some others have found their health improving after switching to organic skin care. For me, it’s important to do it when you are comfortable about it, especially on the issue of affordability. It’s really a matter of priority at the end of the day.

Home Furnishings and Decor for the Living Space 0

Posted on October 28, 2009 by dorischua

My cousin was telling me about his new bachelor pad and was searching for some home decor tips. Being an independent guy, he loves his space and privacy. On the weekends, he just loves to laze in his oversize bean bag and watch his favourite movie. That’s a pretty relaxing way to enjoy the weekends for a guy like him.

We were discussing about dressing up the home and living space and arrive to some simple ideas on home furnishing and interior decorating. The best way to start home furnishing is to ask yourself some basic questions. How long do you plan to live in the house Is it permanent or temporary? What are the essential furnishings you need? When your home decorating ideas become clear, start preparing the items you need to transform the ideas into reality. My cousin is a fan of Dutch Master so he does need to take that into consideration when designing his living space.

You should shop online or in stores where you can find unique home furnishing items that are on sale. There are plenty of home furnishing items such as figurines, paintings, curtains, light shades, furniture, cabinets etc that can be purchased through discount home furnishing outlets. Some bargain deals are also available at consignment stores where people sell off their used furniture, and furniture warehouses that carry slightly damaged models to choose from.

Indie T-shirts: Artistic and Exclusive 0

Posted on October 24, 2009 by dorischua

Nobody will turn away a nice artistic t-shirt that is unique and exclusive. I used to visit flea markets or local street stores for artistic t-shirts whenever I’m traveling. In every country, you can find indie t-shirts that are designed by budding talents and many of them are design or art students who use this medium to display their creativity.

With online technology, shopping for artistic t-shirts has been made easy. The cool thing is people are going online for most of the things, including travel, call centers, health products, wedding supplies…etc. And if you are a fan of unique and artistic tees, make sure you visit Uneetee.com for cool designs. You can find collections for women, men, kids and hoodies. And if you have an artistic flair, you can even submit your design and stand a chance to see your creation being worn by someone while standing a chance to win in a $1,500 design contest.

There is no better place to find indie t-shirts than shopping online at Uneetee – check it out.

Organic Skin Care for Better Health 0

Posted on October 21, 2009 by dorischua

For a long time, I have been a faithful user of organic and natural skincare and some of these natural products are made by independent herbalists who take great pride and care in designing a product for skin health.

I know there are some who do not believe about the use of organic skin care but it’s down to an individual preference at the end of the day. What works best for one may not work for another. Personally, I like the idea of using skin care that does not contain harmful ingredients that are bad for my skin. The skin is the largest organ of the body and it is constantly absorbing what you apply on it. Some of the organic products are owned by small indie beauty owners and thus quality is ensured. The skin care is also produced in smaller quantities to ensure efficacy and freshness. Whether you are searching for acne skin care or the best eye cream, I’m sure you can search for a good organic product online.

Many indie followers are also environmentally conscious which led them to embrace the philosophies of organic and natural skin care products. So the next time you went shopping in your local markets, do stop by and give those handmade and homemade stuff another fresh look.

Indie Cool: What It Takes 0

Posted on October 21, 2009 by dorischua

When it comes to indie fashion, the topic covers from the cover for the head to the bottom of the soles. And as far as footwear goes, the Doc Marten, Converse sneaker and Vans are Indie cool. So are vintage shoes, the older the better, and if they have a hole in them so much the better. Adidas, Jimmy Choos and Vera Wangs are not acceptable. Jeans must be naturally distressed.

$21.99
If you want to distress your own jeans don’t let anyone know you did. This can be done simply with a pair of nail scissors and a bottle of bleach. But not your $200 jeans, especially if your mother had to pay for them. Cardigans are cool as are blazers, hats, but never a baseball cap, scarves, waistcoats, ties and anything which is completely unique.

$38.99
Indie cool T-shirt have to be hand-made (by yourself), printed with the name of a band or printed with a meaningful or thought provoking catchphrase. A pencil skirt is a must-have in any Indie girls wardrobe, but it must be printed with a picture of ChÈ Guevarra. But these days, a budding designer or artist t-shirt fits that description of being indie cool too!

$50.00
This particular genre is a non-conformist type of lifestyle, to my way of thinking it is much like emo, but I suppose any true Indie, would soon set me straight on that point. Even some home hand dryers I saw in one exhibition displays an indie and artistic look. The name is an abbreviation of “Independent” his respect, music an movies have to be of the same genre. Nothing in the mainstream belongs!

Typically the Indie person is unpredictable, yet cool and you won’t find them voted for as the King and Queen of the prom, this would betray their uniqueness, and shirking of conventions.

Featuring Doie Indie Tops 0

Posted on October 06, 2009 by dorischua

Shopping for nice stylish indie tops can be hard when you don’t know where to head. Today, I’m picking another indie label from our Indie Fashion Store and this time, let’s take a look at some women’s tops.

I’ve always love comfy , light and casual tops that aren’t pretentious or complicated. Simplicity is the key to indie fashion and I do appreciate those with a touch of uniqueness and individuality. Fair enough, everyone has his own taste when it comes to clothing. When we were renovating, it took both hubby and myself a couple of weeks to select the faucets we wanted for our house – we both had such differing views and tastes!

If you like indie tops that can take you from day to night, Designer Sara Kirsner’s label ‘Doie’ has some nice pieces. She created this clothing line after interning for DKNY and Marc Jacobs and freelancing in the design department at Anne Taylor. Doie was born from the idea that it is possible to be stylish and comfortable while still helping to protect the environment. Each versatile piece is made from a combination of bamboo jersey, an incredible soft and breatheable earth-friendly fabric, and 100% silk trim. These pieces transition from day to night and from lounging to lunching. Doie is made from the finest fabrics and is made in New York City.

If that’s not indie fashion, what else is?

Featuring Sustainable VerdeRocks Jewelry 0

When it comes to choosing an unique gift for a girl friend, I tend to browse through the indie accessories collection for a start. I prefer to choose gifts that are creative and different. It makes the recipient happy and it makes my day too.

For today’s feature from the Indie Fashion store, I have picked VerdeRocks Jewelry Dragonfly Cuff. Though I’m not so big on gold jewelry, this piece of indie accessory is a lovely piece that catches my attention. I first heard about VerdeRocks from a friend who is in the term life insurance business and here’s what I learned about the brand. Being an alternative fashion accessories brand, VerdeRocks creates jewelry using new “old stock” vintage components. Each piece is created in limited editions and is unique in style and availability. The vintage materials include new lockets and cuffs, restored Victorian filigrees, and rare Swarovski crystals. You can trust their designs for a modern edge that still maintains an authentic, “old world” look and feel. Being a sustainable company, it uses vintage, recycled, and fair trade materials in all of their design pieces.

For the Eco Friendly: Urth Bags 0

Posted on October 03, 2009 by dorischua

In the last post, we featured UglyFish Organics and their fun philosophy when it comes to designing kiddies fashion. Honestly, I still like the cool name of this brand and it complements what Indie Fashion is all about in the world of creativity.

For a long time, I am a big fan of nice cool indie bags and this post, I would like to feature Urth Bags for the travel bugs. All my friends know that I am a great supporter of health travel and I’m also particular about choosing the right bags when I go on vacation. So who is Urth Bags and what are they known for? For the environmentally friendly individuals, you will appreciate UrthBags as each bag is made from recycled or biodegradable materials. Local craftsmen are used in the creation of each unique bag, instead of shipping things around. UrthBags strives to spread the word about eco-mindedness, recycling and reusing in the all-too-often disposable fashion industry.

Featuring: UglyFish Organics Girls Coat 0

This weekend, I will be featuring some products from the Indie Fashion Store. Many of these indie products are designed by eco friendly designers who embrace quality as well as environmental responsibility principles.

In my line of work, I get to meet all kinds of people and on one occasion, I had a learning session with a few Mesothelioma doctors who shared with me the facts of mesothelioma. This is something many people aren’t familiar about and I am glad to gain some understanding from these professionals.

So back to the feature for this post. My son has recently been talking to me about buying a cute raincoat for him. Though I know the request has nothing to do with the weather, I still did some search to satisfy his asking. This UglyFish Organics Girls Coat caught my eye when I did my search online at the Indie Fashion Store.

Here’s a little info about the designer, UglyFish Organics: The designers are made a group of wild, optimistic people who love their work, laugh loudly, and keep their kids up past bedtime to play Rock Band. If you like to dress your kids up in beautiful clothes and let them get rumpled, then you will be sharing the same interests as the designers at UglyFish. Their clothing is durable and creative. Each of the pieces is crafted from eco-friendly materials under fair manufacturing conditions right here in the USA.
