Indie Designers Supporting Eco Living Principles 0

Posted on May 26, 2009 by dorischua

While searching for indie fashion designers, I came across a few eco living online stores that focus on promoting eco natural fashion and products as well as environmentally friendly home accessories.

It’s impressive to note that there are more indie designers who embrace eco living principles in their practices and many of them are also supporting fair trade communities and organic principles. Indie jewelry designers are also exploring on their creativity with recycled materials and the end results can be inspiring and alluring. Novica is a great place to source for indie designer products including clothing, jewelry , homeware, paintings, art pieces and more. A friend of mine was searching for diamond engagement rings and stumbled on some cool creations from indie designers and artists.

The world of indie design is continuing to grow and in no time, more budding designers and artists will continue to join in the fold.

Indie Projects with Little Ones 0

Few weeks ago on Mother’s Day, my little boy gave me a little potpurri satchet and I guess that must be his first indie gift for his mom. Though he didn’t make it all by himself, it was a nice touch and meaningful gesture.

Sometimes the most ‘indie’ moments of our lives are during the childhood days when everything is simple and pure. My son brings back little art and indie projects using recycled materials and scraps. And I really like what the school is teaching him to do – being indie and eco friendly at the same time.

This week, I need to work abit more in the gym and tone up those abs for summer. Some of my friends are trying out new fat loss pill and I can’t wait to see the results. But since I begun Pilates classes, I’m determined to spend more time to work on my abs and core muscles.

I’m also working on some indie affiliates to be included in this blog in the next few weeks. Let’s hope that the internet line is working well and I can get all my stuff done as per schedule!

The Oversized LoveSac: More Than Just an Indie BeanBag 0

NOthing beats a good movie over the weekends as we relax in the comfort of our new LoveSac beanbag. What I like about the Lovesac beanbag is that it has an indie design to it and is great for any corner of the house.

The oversized LoveSac was first introduced to us by a friend who got it as a birthday gift from his parents. Simple, minimalist and unpretentious, the LoveSac beanbag has several designs and sizes and you can even get a couple LoveSac for some relaxing and romantic time while watching your favourite movie. Imagine sitting in front of your LCD theater on the TV wall mount in your home theater and snuggling together in the comforts of the popular LoveSac, this is more than just a favourite among the indie designers and artists.

Being Indie Doesn’t Mean Being Alone All the Time 0

Posted on May 16, 2009 by dorischua

Some people have the misconception that being indie means you just focused on going solo and you don’t care about what’s going on around you. No teamwork, no partners, no family support – just indie. This is absolute nonsense.

I just received a call from a friend who is an indie traveler for years but has a loving family. He enjoys traveling and trodding to different places while experiencing various cultures alone but when back home, he’s a loving daddy too. He told me that he would want to bring his family for Orlando vacations someday though it wouldn’t be an indie travel experience then. By that will be purely family time when the time comes.

Being indie can still involve friends and loved ones… it’s just doing things differently.

Indie Travel For the Mind 0

Posted on May 12, 2009 by dorischua

I’ve been away for an indie vacation in Phuket and it’s nice to take a break off every now and then.

While in Phuket, I can notice many indie travelers who just simply decide to take time off from their busy schedules and do a slow travel. They normally stay more than 2 weeks and during that time, they will take time to immerse into the local culture and enjoy the local tastes and lifestyle. There is no rush and no jammed packed traveling schedule – just a rest and relax session.

As I was surfing the web, I also notice that even drug rehab are taking a different approach to provide a recovery experience for patients. The ambience in the center is conducive and provides a positive experience for those who are there to seek help and treatment. The traditional rehab centres where the ambience is quite cold and impersonal but with the move of times, things are a little different now.

Perhaps I should be planning for slow and indie travel holidays this year. I’m kinda tired of rushing through the day and following a holiday itinerary. Most importantly, the mind needs a break and the body, a rest. This can prepare one to move further and move ahead into life’s expecations and challenges.
