Missing Indie Cafe and Indie Music 0

Posted on April 25, 2009 by dorischua

One of the most relaxing things to do on a long weekend is to enjoy some indie music in a cafe and catch up with some good friends.

I kinda miss doing that eversince I got so tied up with work and parenting. Years ago, I used to visit this local cafe where indie artists gathered and shared their creative stories. It was inspiring just to behold new ideas and listen to creative music.

When I was in the States five years ago, my brother in law took me to a nice indie pub with his Frisco Dentist friend. It was casual, light hearted and cosy. I only wish there are more of this kind of cafes in town these days. But with thanks to technology, indie artists can now share their music and passion online to more people. There is no better time to experience better music and art in this 21st century.

Go Indie Clothing Shopping this weekend 0

The weekends is here again. I promise to shop for some indie clothing with a good friend for her upcoming graduation party. So it’s going to be a fun thing.

There is so much to do in my weekend list of things. While I’m trying to continue my indie music research, I’m obliged to also search for auto insurance quotes for my better half. Sometimes I wish for more time in my hands to accomplish all the tasks and responsibilities.

Oh, if you are gamed for some ethical and eco clothing by indie designers, take a look at some cool selections at this Eco Natural Store. Happy Weekends!

Experiencing Indie Travel 0

Posted on April 24, 2009 by dorischua

There has been lots of interest on indie travel among my group of friends and I’m exploring more destinations that are popular among indie travelers.

One of the ways to travel the indie style is to avoid tour packages. Just rough it out the free and easy way, that is. You probably end up walking more and doing adventurous stuff but this is the best way to mingle with the locals and experience the real essence of travel. At the end of an active trip like this, you don’t even need fat burner pills or anything like that cos you will be burning lots of calories from the walking and trekking.

Be prepared if you are traveling independently. Equip yourself with all the necessary first aid and safety kits that may be helpful when you are stuck in some part of a remote area.

Indie Traveler Goes Online Travel 0

Posted on April 23, 2009 by dorischua

When an indie traveler thinks about destinations, resorts or particular hotels, his opinions might largely be shaped by what friends and family had told us, what he’d read in the newspapers or travel magazines, or maybe what he’d seen in holiday-related television programmes.

The birth of the internet and its increasing usability to many of us has undoubtedly changed the goalposts. We now have the ability to research our chosen destinations online – we even have access to the thoughts of previous visitors to the hotels that we may be planning to stay at.

We can compare prices relatively quickly no matter where our travel destination is. It can be a beach getaway in Mexico or Argentina travel, there are now more options in terms of how we structure our holidays. We’re no longer limited by the narrow boundaries of the package holiday market – we can now book our flights and accommodation independently, with far less hassle.

Set to Building Indie Clothing Store 0

Finally, I managed to locate a few indie clothing merchants and can begin my indie store planning soon.

It’s amazing to note that the indie industry is growing and there are more independent artists and designers emerging in these troubled times. Some of these indie designers went off to create new items that most people wouldn’t think off so you can expect to see more add ons in Etsy. There are also many indie fashion sites by small business owners and entrepreneurs.

Indie living can also refer to those who chooses ethical living and eco living as many of them who design ethical clothing are independent designers. I was checking out on a diet pill website and stumbled upon many indie affiliate programs in the web. Unfortunately, many of these indie sites offer very low commission to affiliates who aren’t very attractive at all.

Whatever it is, I’m set to build my indie clothing store so you should expect to see a change in this site soon.

pondering over ethical fashion and indie works 0

Here it’s back to thinking of a niche for this indie blog and I’ve been pondering over indie fashion and ethical clothing since it’s related to the indie concept of free expression and creativity.

These days, people are talking about green travel and ethical practices. Even when it comes to finding the best accomodation deals for a destination, these factors are part of the selection process. Whether you plan to stay in extended stay hotels or holiday homes, green travel or indie travel allows you to meet more locals and absorb the local culture during your travel.

Ethical clothing opens up new channels of fair practices for those with hand skills and good craftsmanship. It may be just the right time for me to launch a new nice on the subject of ethical designs, indie works and artisan craftsmanship.

looking forward to a garden wedding 0

Posted on April 03, 2009 by dorischua

A friend of mine is getting married next summer and has chosen a garden wedding for her theme. I believe it is going to be an exciting occasion as she is also designing her own gown.

Her indie talents have taken her far. Besides busy with her own garden wedding gown, she will be organizing the entire wedding from scratch with the help of few good friends in the indie circle. She is also working on losing a few pounds prior to her wedding so is trying out a diet supplement apart from heading to the gym three times a week.

I can expect her to work on her own indie invitations since she’s a creative person at heart. I am hoping to snap some shots for her garden wedding and hopefully play a part in her wedding planning.
