creating art projects and kids art 0

Posted on August 31, 2008 by

Lately, my son has been coming home with various art projects that he created in his school. Though they are simple, raw and unfinished, it impresses me that at a young age, they are taught to turn recycled materials into little works of art.

I am looking into a couple of kids art courses for him as I personally believe that learning art at a young age can inspire creativity in young minds. Not too long ago, I discovered the Quick Center device which created an interest in me in teaching clay to my son. This is a device where one can learn about teaching wheel throwing as well as centering clay. With clear instructions that come with the kit, both adults and children can have fun in creating art projects in class and at home. This would also be a great way to introduce kids art in schools and in play groups, providing children the opportunity to develop themselves in creative thinking and intuition skills.

unique gift ideas: pop up photo album 0

Posted on August 27, 2008 by

I’ve always  attracted to cute and unique gift ideas so when I was assigned to search for an unique gift for a close cousin, I took up the offer right away!

It seems that my family knows that I’m an avid online shopper though I do enjoy dropping by the malls for updates on new trends and styles for the season, especially when a seasonal sale is on. Who doesn’t like sale? Ladies, anyone? To increase store efficiency, most store are equipped with all kinds of pos products to serve their customers better. The more eco friendly way to start a store is to use a refurbished point of sale or second hand pos scanners since they are of top quality most of the time.

Back to shopping for unique gift ideas, I came across some cool gifts online today. My cousin loves collecting family reunion photos so when I saw this Pop-Up Photo Album, I know this is one unique gift that she will love to have for her birthday… watch this video:

the subject on beauty, firming and anti ageing 0

Posted on August 27, 2008 by

Every woman has different beauty and make up needs. My great grandmother used to swear by washing her face with rice water. As we become more affluent, we pursue beauty brands that promise to delivery instant and lasting results. Like it or not, it’s all done in the name of beauty and vanity and there is nothing wrong with that.

I once heard the discussion of a group of Chicago personal injury lawyers on the subject of make up and skin care. I then realized that ageing is one subject that most women don’t like to talk about but deep in their hearts, they like to know how it can be reversed. While there are lots of beauty treatment options in the beauty marketplace - some invasive and some non-invasive, it’s no surprise why this anti ageing is growing everyday.

For a firming cream helps smooth the appearance of wrinkles and helps to lift sagging skin, Lauren Hutton introduces Phyto Face Firm, a 98% natural, dual action formula. It can be used for an instant temporary face lift or 1-2 times a week as a 20-minute facial mask for long term benefits.

The interesting thing is, the less you use, the better it works. An amazing change can be noticed after one treatment and a noticeable difference after one week.

To top it up, you’ll also get Lauren’s New Wow Brow Pencil uniquely designed to create a beautiful, natural brow. Velvety soft, mineral based formula will color, fill in and shape your brows. Brush on opposite end combs untamed hairs. Wow Brow will leave each brow perfectly shaped - instantly.

baby shower shopping 0

This weekend, I’m invited to attend a baby shower which led me to some online shopping for handmade baby clothing and accessories. Since baby carriers have been popular among mobile and active moms, they do make great baby shower gifts. I believe a Bob stroller will be great for active moms who like to bring her newborn. Etsy remains a great online stop for handmade stuff and if organic cotton is your fancy, greenloop may be another great online store to grab some eco friendly baby gifts.

keep warm on a cruise 0

Traveling with the family in cruises can be very fun when everyone loves an all-inclusive experience. We brought our toddler for a family cruise last year and he could still recall the great times we had whenever I played the vacation videos for him.

Transportation Stoller Blanket

If you are traveling with a young child or a baby, you may like to bring along baby blanket during those cooler breezy nights. Going out with your baby - pushing the stroller through the cruise or taking it with you when you go for a stroll is a great opportunity for you to spend time together, and for you to show your baby what the world is like. Unfortunately, it’s also a great opportunity for your baby to get sick from the temperature outside. Babies lose body heat quickly, so if they are going out, they need blankets. This Transportation Stroller Blanket from Dwell Studio Baby is perfect for the occasions. With one side printed in their signature patterns and the other side made of soft terry cloth, this blanket will keep your baby warm in style!

making changes to live a healthy lifestyle 0

Posted on August 13, 2008 by

My hubby has been nagging at my irregular exercise routine lately. Blame it on my hectic work schedule and parenting duties that seem to rise above my head each time I tried to put on my running gear. Worse still, my breakfast and meal times need to be adjusted to a more regular mode from what it is currently.

Sometimes, I get into this bad habit of reaching out for a quick sinful and unhealthy snack when time is pressing on my end. But after all that health education about choosing the right diets, I have learned to withhold myself from consuming things that contain empty calories. Perhaps I should choose some healthy snack bars for a change. From what I understand, these best protein bars are full of important vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. For that reason, choosing a best tasting protein bar is better than a candy one. I sure need to start making changes to live a healthier lifestyle!

pampering time for expectant mum to be 0

babybuds® - Where New Ideas Are Born

Nothing beats a pampering pregnancy gift for the expectant mum to be. While having a chat with my neighbour next door, I could see the joy on her face as she’s expecting her first child. It was nice to hear the excitement in her voice. Her loving hubby took her shopping for pregnancy clothing, baby stuff, pregnancy books, baby journals and baby essentials.

As a surprise for her, she was asked to pick one of the Festina watches as a love gift. I thought that was a sweet gesture.

A Mum to be Gift Set is a wonderful way to spoil the mum-to-be. The gift set above includes one white baby sock rosebud and includes a few chocolates for a little indulgence. Also included in the giftset are 2 essential lotions from Absolute Essentials:

Pregnancy Body Balm (100ml): A safe and pleasant smelling balm for mothers to be. Great to massage all over your body, especially when your back gets tired from carrying the additional weight. Leaves your skin soft & subtle while also protecting you from the appearance of stretchmarks. Safe to use daily.

Birth Time Calm: Not knowing what’s going to happen & how it’s going to turn out, the family-to-be needs all the support possible. Add 5 drops to a diffuser before &/or during birth, repeat as often as required. Creates a calm and focused atmosphere without causing sleepiness.

abstract cedar bracelet from novica 0

This morning, I was checking out some diet pill reviews and came across some beautiful abstract and fiery jewelry in the web during my regular surfing.

I’m not sure if you have checked out Dawanda but it sure is a great place to find indie and artistic creations from independent designers and artists. The Flames of Love is an elegant necklace which composed of red handmade lampwork glass beads, dark red Swarovski crystals, mookaite, small red faceted glass beads and gold-plated discs.

For a abstract and fiery look, talented painter, Gerard Terrien brings motifs from his canvases to this dramatic cedar bracelet. Red and black represent sunset’s splendor, linked by silver beads. He paints the motifs freehand on cedar wood, so no two pieces of jewelry are exactly identical. Check out for more NOVICA - Handmade Artisan Jewelry from Around the World.

Hear what his customers have to say:

Received the Earth & Wine II bracelet yesterday. My wife liked it very much. She has a lot of jewelry and it is always difficult to find something unique for her. This is a lovely addition to her collection.

The Night and Fire bracelet is absolutely fantastic. The workmanship is superb and the colours complement each other magnificently. It is a work of art and I can’t stop looking at it. Thank you!

artistic cotton cushions from india 0

Are you a car lover? If you are, chances are, you wash your car more than once a week, vacuum and clean up as often as you possibly find dirt and mess in the car. You make sure that a car cover is used when you are away for a holiday and makes sure the cushions in the car are cleaned and changed as often as your mood changes too!

If you are in for some cute and artistic cushions, you will be impressed by this pair of Red Martini Gal cushions too. These seem like the right cotton cushions for the elegant ladies dressed in red. Bright and cheerful, this pair of cushion covers takes a cubist style. Artisan and designer Gulam Ahmed from India creates the motifs in woolen chain stitch on a cotton canvas backing. He brings a vibrant, modern design to the ancient Kashmir craft.

“My work is an expression of my thoughts. My designs are inspired by our ancient heritage and express the beauty of the flora and fauna of my home state, Kashmir. For crafting chain stitch rugs, we first trace the design on a cotton base and then do the chain stitch embroidery by using a special kind of needle called an aari in Kashmir. My father has been my constant source of inspiration. And it is my constant effort to create something new.” ~ Gulam Ahmed.

Gulam Ahmed depicts his subject in cubist style, suggesting movement and moods that flicker across a thoughtful face. Clear colors make this an enchanting example of modern Kashmiri design. Crafted by hand with fine chain stitches, the cushion covers feature wool on a cotton canvas backing. An opening on the back permits cushion insertion.
