a decorative mirror for the therapeutic bathroom 1

Posted on July 31, 2008 by dorischua

Every one of us has our favourite space in the house, whether it’s the bedroom, our little cosy loft area, the dining room or simply the bathroom. I know of ladies who love their bathrooms for therapeutic reasons. In the bathroom, they could relax and soak in the healing bath salts while enjoying a good rub on the skin.

If you are one of those who spend lots of time in the bathroom, you would put in the efforts to do up the decor bit. It should at least offer a nice and calming environment, add nice coloured or decorated tiles that reflect serenity and complement it with an artisan mirror perhaps. Installing tasteful bathroom fixtures and detailing with an oceanic theme can make the bathroom a place of rejuvenation and restoration for your mind and body. How about a decorative mirror for the bathroom too?

“Color Sprinkles” is designed with colorful candy sprinkles, bright, clear hues surrounding a circular wall mirror. Working with ceramic tile, designer Isabella Maroja creates a beautiful and intricate design. Best of all, every coloured fragment is personally set in place by hand in this very original piece. Check out more Decorative Mirrors all Beautifully Hand-Crafted at Novica.

“Customer Reviews of Isabella Maroja

I bought the Blue Waves mirror from Isabella a couple of months ago and absolutely love it! The mosaics sparkle day and night. This mirror can really liven up a space! Thanks for the good work…. “

handblown glass art by the murano artisans of brazil 1

NOVICA

Did I ever mention that I love glass art? I admire the lovely colours on the transparent finish and infact, I would want to learn glass blowing if I ever get the chance! Once, I stayed in a condo hotel in New Zealand and the luxurious living area has a beautiful Murano Vase and that was the first time I learned about the beauty of Murana glass art.

In Novica, you can find a wide array of Murano glass art by the Murano artisans of Brazil. Each murano vase is handblown to reflect modernity for the contemporary home owner. What attracts me are the use of colours – the yellows, reds, oranges and the clever glass blowing techniques that create a new dimension to vase art itself. The work represents glass-blowing techniques brought to Brazil from the tiny island of Murano in Italy. Check out the handmade Unique Art Vases by NOVICA Artist from Around the World

an indie cafe dream 0

Sometimes I would sit around and daydream about an indie bistro or cafe. How nice it is to have a concept store of indie gifts and products being sold in a simple cafe that serves natural food and organic drinks. Organize an artisan fair one a month and invite indie designers and artists to display and sell their creations to those who appreciate handmade and original creations.

On top of that, I could get a set of Polk Audio I-sonic ES2 and play some nice music in the indie cafe, tune in to new country music stations and new stations to liven the ambience. I can even display handmade furniture, homeware and artworks in the cafe as per our the cafe’s store, while allowing diners to purchase and take the creations back if they like. Adorn the cafe with fresh blooms every other day and if possible, have an organic and herb garden at the doorway. Wow – what an indie dream that is :)

carnelian and citrine artisan pendant by busarin 0

I have been noticing the labels “fair trade” and “ethical” being used on skin care, apparel and home products these days. These labels basically mean “social movement and market-based approach to alleviating global poverty and promoting sustainability. The movement advocates the payment of a fair price as well as social and environmental standards in areas related to the production of a wide variety of goods.”

For true artisan and indie creations, Novica.com has lots to offer. If you are a fan of gemstones, silver and handmade necklaces, rings and bracelets, you will be spoilt for choices. I’ve always adore the works of Busarin who is a talented indie designer who hails from Thailand. I love her clever way of combining the gemstones and tranforming these colourful stones into a piece of wearable art.

This Carnelian and citrine choker, ‘Flight’ mimics the butterfly’s translucent wings. Made of carnelian, citrine and crystal, this beautiful pendant hangs from a yellow leather cord to accentuate the charm of the free-spirited woman. counting my blessings 0

There are many ways to show our love to people close to us. I used to create cards and little crafts for my dearest friends and these little gestures had kept many friendships going. While checking on some indie sites, I came to watch the video of this lady who had recently ordered a stem cell collection kit after learning that she was going for a surgery. She even thought about doing a collection sample for her parents and siblings since the vital stem cells can potentially be used to save their lives should any of them be stricken with a heart disease or Alzheimer. The family has history of these diseases. The details of how stem cell technology can play a part to save lives can be found in the informative C’elle website. By watching the C’elle Client Testimonial, it gave me a better appreciation of what I’m blessed with as a woman. I never knew that my menstrual liquid can be used for the good of my health. For that, I’ve learned to count my blessings again.

organic and natural skincare and beauty products 0

Skincare and beauty needs are constantly at the top of the list for most women. Over time, more and more indie beauty enthusiasts have embarked on the art of designing and concocting their own natural skincare and cosmetics.

For more than a year, I have been a mineral makeup convert after reading so much benefits about mineral foundation. Many women who are undergoing acne treatment have found that mineral makeup helps to prevent breakouts and help to maintain moisture and oil balance on their skin. When it comes to organic skin care, SkinBotanica.com is devoted to bringing you the finest natural and organic skin care, body care, hair care, and cosmetics available.

The site features natural and organic products formulated with ingredients from natural sources, such as plants, flowers, fruit, vegetables, etc. These products do not contain any synthetic chemicals, including parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, fragrances, or dyes.

health therapies and wellness oils 0

When it comes to health matters and facts, I’m all ears to learn more. Lately, I’ve been shopping for an effective vacuum for the home, basement dehumidifiers, a steam cleaner and possibly an air purifier.

People are turning to alternative treatments and natural therapies for long term results these days. What’s nice to note is that more independent health enthusiasts are exploring and developing their own line of wellness and health products to help those who believe in alternative therapies.

Nature’s Inventory wellness oils was set up as a result of the passion of a lady who was told that there was no cure for her lupus condition. She started searching and developing various health solutions before launching her line of wellness oils that work effectively. Since the launch of Nature’s Inventory online store, the oils are making a difference in many lives.

All natural Nature’s Wellness Oils are specially formulated topical oils designed to address physical and emotional needs. With over 100 products including a full line for women, men, children, babies, and, even animals there is something for everyone!

finding the perfect indie gifts online 0

Posted on July 11, 2008 by dorischua

It’s another weekend on the way – it feels nice. This coming weekend, I would be traveling to hubby’s hometown for a day trip. I’ve never quite enjoyed a tiring trip like this since it robs me of my indie surfing on the weekends. His hometown does not have an internet connection. Looks like I need to bring along a magazine or this new book given to me, A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose for the trip.

But if you have some time this weekend and like to check out the works of artisans and designers from all over the world, don’t miss out the cool collection at Novica.com – handmade rugs, jewelry, aprons, homewares, clothing and lots more, I’ve always find an indie product that inspires and impresses. Novica.com is a great online store for finding the perfect family gifts, romantic gifts, unique gifts, artistic gifts, personal gifts and wedding gifts.
