women and her femininity 0

Posted on June 16, 2008 by

Interestingly, I noticed that most indie designers are women and their forte usually lies in the fashion, jewelry and crafts. Whether it’s a lady artisan or male designer, I have alot of respect for those in the art and design industry, especially if they are entrepreneurs. Read the rest of this entry →

a personal touch in handmade cards 0

I just came back from a thanksgiving party. This invitation came through the electronic media. We got an e-card for this invitation which caused me to miss the good old days of receiving handmade invitations. Eight years ago, I designed our wedding invitations and each one was hand made with love and great care. It took me some time to find the right paper stock and motifs for the design and it was very special to us. With online technology, people can now order baby shower invitations, birthday and wedding invitations online and it has become so convenient and easy. But given a choice, I still enjoy making my own greeting cards and adding a personal touch to the design. For me, nothing can replace a ‘real’ card as the message and thoughts will last for the longest time.

floral and fauna jewelry 0

I love exchanging resources and ideas with indie design enthusiasts. Lately, I got to know someone who is the expert for cheap shopping buys in the web. Ask her about cheap jewelry, cheap home and decor items, cheap shoes, bags, cheap Phentermine and even cheap toys and she’ll point you to the right places.

She’s also a fan of Mintd.com and that’s just one of my favourite sites for indie designs and artistic finds. We are both fond of floral and fauna jewelry and the creations of Sudlow are definitely one of our favourites. This piece of jewelry is inspired by plant life and nature itself. What a feminine piece!

busy work load and tight schedules 0

My busy work load and tight datelines have affected my regular posting for this blog. I haven’t had much time to poke my nose around the works of indie designers or artisans in the last couple of weeks. In fact, I haven’t even got a Father’s day gift for my hubby except for a card that I bought during a work trip some time ago. Read the rest of this entry →

a cool site by the name of 29olives is launched 0

It arouses curiosity within me when I first came across this cute website - 29olives.com. Only launched last month, 29olives was launched by Erin Parker to support and promote small independent designers and artists. You can find fun, unique and whimsical products and items on the website carefully selected by Erin.

Besides a cute logo and friendly looking website design, I am attracted by 29olives’s eco-conscious philosophy of using recycled materials, reusing packaging from vendors and supporting artists who create environmentally sustainable goods.

This travel charm bracelet may be just the right gift for my adventurous seeking girl friend who is a big fan of new and used Harleys. It truly evokes the free spirited characteristics and charm for a travel gal like her!

stylish and chic bags for modern moms 0

Posted on June 07, 2008 by

We just came back from visiting our close friend’s one month baby. He is such an adorable boy. We had a great time talking about packing for babies and traveling with little ones. Then it went on to discussing about baby bags and carriers.

One thing I found out since becoming a mom few years ago - modern moms like stylish and chic baby bags. I first heard about Orla Kiely stylish bags when I was searching for jobs in San Francisco. Since, I’ve always wanted a Orla Kiely bag when my child was born but somehow, I’ve never got round to getting one. Colorful as a box of crayons and a summer rainbow, this cute Orla Kiely bag is a must-have for the upcoming summer. Who minds adding another stylish bag as you step out into the golden sun.

design your own children’s shoes 0

It has been a very busy week at work which explains why I haven’t posted for a week! I managed to catch up with a friend who wants to have a chat on car insurance comparison with me before we started discussing about this cool online store for children’s shoes.

I like the tagline: Preschoolians Children’s Shoes – Where Bare Foot is Best. What’s really cool about it is you can actually design your children’s shoes at the online store. First, you choose the style, next comes the sole and then the colour. With so many cute and lovely styles like ballerina, mary jane, sports fusion, singing in the rain and alot more! I thought this is a great idea and it’s definitely a real fun thing to ‘design a pair of nice shoes’ for your little ones. Besides, they make great gift ideas for baby showers and birthdays too!
