Barbeque parties are popular on those long summer evenings where daylight stretches overtime. This is also a great time to invest in a set of patio furniture if you haven’t got any and if you already had one, then don’t forget to those nice hanging pendant or patio lights that can add ambience to the patio area.

These lovely Pod hanging pendant funnels light are not only nice to behold but they bring just about the right amount of light for your patio or porch. If this is too much a splurge for the patio, then you may want to place it in a cosy corner in your family or living area – don’t forget to hang them at the right height too

Lately many retail boutiques have sprung up in the affluent areas and I was told by my shopaholic friends that many of these boutique owners are importing their clothing and jewelry from China and Hong Kong. As such, many of the indie designers are also traveling to these countries in search of better raw materials and other business opportunties. Read the rest of this entry →

All our friends are trying to convince us to get a vehicle tracking device due to the fact that I’m always getting myself lost! It seems to be a great device that offers directions and help for any driver especially if you are not so good with roads and directions!
Anyways, to avoid getting lost, I try not to venture into new places on my own and with online shopping, I don’t even need to step out and grab my stuff sometimes. The nice thing about shopping online is that it can be done at home and I don’t need to worry about driving or getting lost
Besides, you get to shop and compare within a short time frame with online shopping as opposed to traditional shopping in the mall. Having said that, both deliver different experiences on its own.

What I like about another indie site is Mintd.com where you can find eclectic jewelry to home items including sofa sets and : outdoor lighting.

This stunning Lilas bracelet is hand fabricated with raw looking gemstones and keshi pearls. Here’s the description:
Large plump faceted Pink Amethyst briolettes, faceted flashy nuggets of Labradorite, peacock Keshi Pearl blossoms with Pink Amethyst faceted rondelle centers, smooth flashy Labradorite pebbles and faceted Pink Amethyst coins make up this lush bracelet.
This is one lovely piece for the lady who loves chunky bracelet and an arty combination of gemstones. Organic and very indie. Created by Elaine Haydon.

Some people are very particular about keeping their things organized. They are so organized that it is hard to find a book sitting on the dining table since the dining area is for eating! I love storage space though I wish I have more time to stay organized. But you can forget about keeping everything out of sight when you have a busy preschooler leaving things everywhere and anywhere. So people call this ‘organized mess’ – what an irony.
I love the home and garden products offered in Bouf.com. If you haven’t visited this site, you are missing something cool. While I was looking for some bar faucets by indie designers, I came across POGGIBONSI which helps to keep your storage on the wall. This is great if space is a big concern for your studio or cosy bedroom. When done properly, you can create a design out of the different coloured shelves. With Poggibonsi, you can stay organized in designer flair.

Well, it may sound cruel to suggest this but if you want to irritate someone who is trying hard to lose weight or is on Leptovox, send her this chocolaty yummy, sinful looking Strawberry Cupcake card. Well, she may not be that pleased with you but you may satisfy her cravings or at most, encourage her that at the end of her weight loss program, this is the treat she’s gonna to get!
This cute card was created with decoupaged, curled & overlapped card layers depicting a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting topped with a tiny strawberry. The designer cum chef baked, decorated and photographed this cupcake before photographing then eating it!

Needless to say, most indie travelers prefer to either travel leisurely by backpacking or choosing a free and easy mode of travel. Renting a car is usually the preferred option as it provides indie travelers more option and flexibility. You seldom find indie travelers in a package tour unless language is a big barrier.

I found a new site for indie clothing, accessories, jewelry and other handmade products at Supermarket this morning. Just take it that this may be a simpler version to Etsy but you can still find lots of indie designers and artists on the site. Shoppers are constantly looking out for best buy in the web and indie or handmade products are becoming popular due to their exclusivity and originality.
This Japanese inspired women tee is beautifully designed by AdAm and Hiromi. They design and print clothes, art, and furniture taking much inspiration from traditional Japanese themes, Tokyo style, nature, street art, and life.

No woman minds another handbag to her collection. Like fashion, bags have their own trends, styles and movement. One moment, you see the big carry-on bags being promoted everywhere in the world of fashion and another few months later, the totes just got more popular.

It wasn’t another coincidence but I happened to be in the company of a group of indie travelers who were sharing about their recent trip to Amsterdam and Rome. What I learnt from them was that indie travelers did most of their itinerary planning online including booking budget flights, accommodation, tours, car rentals…etc. Read the rest of this entry →
