what is picture jasper?

Have you heard of picture jasper? Well, I haven’t until I stumbled upon Toby Design (http://www.tobydesign.com) who describes “Picture jasper as a type of Agate that has great bands of different colors. It’s typically found in the mountains of Eastern Oregon.” So, how does she get the pictures into the stones? Well, she’ve found some incredibly talented stone cutters that can take a slice of picture jasper, with all of its beautiful colors and swirls, and find the painting within the rock. They cut out the portion that has the best design in it, and turn it into a stone for her to use. Here are some stunning finished pieces…
